DRASTIC click bank sales drop recently.

Has anyone else seen a DRASTIC decrease in clickbank sales recently?

This is just one of the products I promote, but all of them have seen a similar decrease in sales lately.

My overall earnings are down over 300% in the time periods shown. I am having a hard time seeing how this is possible.

I am trying to determine if everyone is broke before xmas or what is going on. If others are having this issue I could buy that it is just a bad time of year due to people buying xmas presents or whatever.

I don't remember having this happen last year....

BTW the vender in question has not raised the price on this product, the primary difference seems to be after the initial order form impression. The issue is NOT isolated to this vendor.

    Hi Christian,

There've been 5 or 6 threads started off over the last week or ten days, here, about a specific problem of order-form submits not leading to sales (i.e. to a far greater - statistically unimaginable - extent than usual). It seems that many Warriors have this problem over the last few days. (I don't know if that's the same problem you're experiencing, though).

Clickbank, apparently, deny that there's any problem at all. "Shock horror."

Hmm...How safe are we? Are we seeing the end or the flip side of affiliate marketing?

Only enough for half a dozen people to start threads off saying "Is Clickbank Marketing Dead?" and maybe even "Is Affiliate Marketing Dead?" In another week, it'll be back to normal, and Clickbank will be denying there was ever a problem at all and/or saying "What do you expect, in Christmas week?", and one or two Clickbank apologists will be calling for "video evidence" of any irregularities, which, lo and behold (not), nobody will happen - predictably enough - to have available. That's how these things go.

        More seriously ...

        (i) There are people (including some of my own clients) who have circumvented the worst of these problems by opening a new affiliate account and transferring all their hoplinks and so on. It's a pain to have to do, and there's no logical reason why it should work, but in reality it can ...

(ii) Clickbank's idea of "customer service" sucks Big Time, and that's the price you pay for using them. To some of us, it's worth it. But if they had a direct competitor reliably providing exactly the service and facilities they pretend to provide, it would be a whole different story. (I picture them, on new staff orientation/training day in the Chateau Clicky, exhorting the troops to repeat the time-honoured mantra over and over again until it's second nature: "Whatever happened, whoever was involved, and whatever the outcome nothing is ever our responsibility".)

I try to do absolutely everything through PHP redirects hosted on my own sites.

Changing to a different vendor, clickbank account, etc, takes only moments that way.

I've also had to do this - open a second account, change my links and voila - the money started rolling in again!

We can hate on Clickbank all we want but this is pretty common in the CPA world too. Affiliate managers will give away your keywords, landing pages to affiliates they like more than you, tracking problems can occur and life can get pretty ugly unless you are watching over stuff.

    Thanks Alexa!

I have not been around here as much lately and have not seen the other threads.
My order form conversion has dropped from 73.9% to 35.4% on this particular product that is where the bulk of the discrepancy is.

I have talked to the vendor for this product and he's going to set me up with private tracking so no more Clickbank for this one. One down 37 to go

I'll look around for the other threads and thanks for the heads up.

Hi. This is my first post here. I have tried to find prior threads about that subject. Especially comforting ones like mentioned here - that it's a normal behavior that happened before. I have been w/ clickbank for an year or a year and a half now and I always had dryspells, but only recentely I have increased efforts and drive a lot more clicks that turns into... nothing.
I have also noticed that the correlation between submitted order forms and sales used to be 1:1 for me (I sold say 1000 products so far).

I have contacted the support and they claim everything is going fine. *******s.

Even though I am a newbie here, I'm a rather experienced affiliate marketer (just a little new to info products and the CB marketplace).

Here's what I suggest others to do and I'm trying to implement myself:

    * Warn other affiilates about CB. I don't know if it's ill-tracking or purely planned scam, but something is wrong with CB and if you are a full time affiliate you shouldn't rely on CB as income.
(That is a fact about their instabillity that has nothing to do with products. I read previous thread with people defending clickbank because they earn their 5-10-20K a month. It proves nothing.)

*Try to find alternative affiliate networks that offer the same or simillar products.

*Contact merchants and set up something between you too. Even if there's no tracking available on their end, you can always set up a cpc deal (if you have high importance to them of course).

*Mail this Guy. clickbanksucks dot amxpert dot com and tell him about your experience.

    * use this site: replytoben dot com to share your experience with ben shaffer, who has a huge mailing list and probably can investigate further than us.

    * shift your focus from your cb sites to other sites until this is resolved.

Any more input about the subject can be a great help for me. I do have some products that I can only sell via clickbank and the merchants are a bunch of idiots and I can't set up no deal with them.

If you guys are using re-directs on your site, you should register 3 or 4 different Clickbank accounts - never rely on just one. With the help of a little simple php you can have your redirect link alternate between the 3 or 4 different clickbank affiliate ids you have. That way you will really know if something is going on before it's too late. If one account starts showing very different results to the others, you will know something is wrong straight away - and you'll also have some data to prove it.

But if all your accounts are showing the same thing then it will give you a little more piece of mind in the fact you are probably just having a temporary slump in sales. When this happens it could be something the vendor has changed on their sales page, they may have increased the price, whatever. But if all your accounts are showing a change then you know you need to go looking for the cause.

These sorts of reports, coupled with Clickbank's apparent historical tendency to dismiss themselves of any blame and responsibility, do not inspire confidence in me at all as a new Clickbank affiliate.

I don't depend on Clickbank for my income.

Maybe more people should take a hint from that.

Don't get me wrong. I promote affiliate products through them and do well
enough. BUT...I do NOT rely on them because I have seen over the past
years that they DO have periods of time where sales just stop. There is
no logical explanation and then suddenly, all is right with the world again.

FYI, I have never had to open a new account to get sales going again, so
as to whether or not that tactic actually works, who knows.

      Bottom line:

Unless you absolutely CAN'T do this or have NO desire to...

Create your own products so that YOU are in control of things.

      Be the vendor...NOT the affiliate.

I would suggest you to find , at the very least, alternatives. Meaning, don't go for niche products that exist only in CB market - those are sortta shady products anyhow. And whatever you do - never rely on them to "pay the bills", even if your profit has been very consitant.

About new accounts: If this method seem to work it makes me even MORE suspicious of the motives that cause this whole mass. If the tracking system fails, then we can assume that they have technical difficulties. But if there are "problematic accounts" ... *sigh

I'm really looking forward to more replies.
I don't know the nature of this forum yet, and if there are super affiliates for CB here that drive at least XX sales per day (=drive XXXX or XXXXX clicks per day)... I would love to hear their input .

Actually Jay, as I stated in my post above this should be set up and running long BEFORE any irregularities occur. That's the only way you will truly know if something sinister is going on with one of your accounts.

I have had the same problem, although for me it started a couple of months ago. After seeing this thread and realizing it wasn't just me, I have contacted the merchant directly and I would urge you to do the same.

If CB won't listen to the affiliates' concerns, maybe they will wake up and take notice when the merchants start voicing their concerns/defecting to other networks.

I have been in contact with my biggest vendor and he told me his site had been hacked on Dec 10. I pulled up my records for the week before and after and what do you know....

If he was hacked, the other could be as well I don't have time to go through all of my accounts but the ones I checked are ALL down as well.

I have arranged private tracking for this vendor and will one by one replace every clickbank product I can with alternatives or private tracking if possible.

I have 2 accounts but don't want to go through the BS of getting 5 accounts through the system to pay me electronically and hate having to wait for checks.

I've had crazy shi^ happen more than a few times with Clickbank but I'm done, I've had it.

Steve your right and getting my own product/s has been one of my top priorities as of late. Luckily I was able to arrange personal tracking for this particular product.

I have 2 years of ranking work into this site and basically dominate the niche. It's a great product and converts super for me (usually) and it's not a product I'd like to compete with development wise.

Below is what I found, note he told me he was hacked on 10 Dec...
This is statistically IMPOSSIBLE! He also said nothing on his checkout page was changed, price layout, etc.

I did not even bother contacting CB I've heard it all before I am sure it's just a seasonal downturn and nothing to be concerned with.

          Hi Christian!

I'm having the same problem and never had a sale since December 6 from one of the products I've been actively promoting.

How does this private tracking work?
Are all vendors open to this kind of arrangement?
Can you please advise on how should I go on about in making this arrangement?

          Thanks in advance.

Not all vendors are going to have private tracking. I was lucky mine had already set it up because his biggest affiliate was bitching about tracking issues before I got the chance. I had no idea if he had private tracking but I asked and he did.

How it works will depend on what platform they use. Most probably won't bother setting something up just for you unless your sending a decent amount of traffic. You can always ask them or just promote on another network if you can find a similar product.

I already sent the vendor an email.

If he doesn't have this kind of tracking then I'll just have to wait out until Clickbank "fixes" itself. :/

#1 Reason why I don't bother with clickbank anymore.

It was great to start with - then the BS started happening. I have like 20 accounts or so now.

Every time a niche starts slowing down in sales, I pop a new account, swap links, and magically everything is back to normal.

      Weird, huh?

And we're talking about niches that people would hear "affiliate" and go "what's that?" - So it's highly unlikely it's cookie "theft", or hacking.

I'm glad he sat you up with a private system and now you are making a ton more sales.

That is solid proof that something is terribly wrong with clickbank.

So - what's the new word of the day kiddo's? RAPBANK.

Yeah like I said I thought the same thing, but he told me his sales are up as of late. Now after him hooking me up with private tracking (outside of Clickbank) my sales are back.

The rest of my product sales still in Clickbank continue to suck.

I've been doing this for a few years now, and I have made up my mind about what is going on.

I'm not saying Click Bank has been ripping me off, I think they are just the biggest/easiest target out there for hackers.

Is this implemented through the merchant or cb?
Merchant, Clickbank would never admit their system is flawed it could be catastrophic for them.

      • True, it is fairly easy for anyone with an account to replace your affiliate ID with their own. It's ClickBank's fault in the sense that they publicly display this information, but it's also quite unethical for others to substitute their own link when an affiliate is working hard to drive traffic.

Yeah I used to do a fair amount of CPV and I can tell you from personal experience the bids on every network are quite high on clickbank order pages. They pop on the page and overwrite your cookie. There are other sneakier ways I am sure. Some may have clamped down on this practice but I would not know.

People are out and about, spending time with family, camping etc

Before getting into internet marketing, all of my sites would "drop off". For me its no big surprise. Its just a matter of sitting it out.

    No big deal.

BTW - Ive seen 1 sale over the past week between 9 sites.

Hey Johnny, "Christmas" accounts for a decline in sales, certainly. But it doesn't account at all for the specific problem mentioned in this and half a dozen other current/very recent threads, of a huge variation in the normal proportion of order-form impressions/order-form submits to sales.

Some people have had 20 - 30 order-form submits without a single sale.

This is the current Clickbank problem: it's not just a "low sales problem", which could easily be seasonal.

This is a post order-form processing problem.

Some people have had 20 - 30 order-form submits without a single sale.

This is the current Clickbank problem: it's not just a "low sales problem", which could easily be seasonal.

Sorry, I skimmed the thread. And to be honest, Im sipping a post christmas wine :p

Whats obvious to me is that I am now making money, during Christmas after getting private tracking.

I'm not here to convince anyone or hate on CB, it took over 2 years for me to be convinced shenanigans are going on.

Rapbank is a great alternative everyone. And your paid instantly, which is nice. And you cannot buy through your own link through Paypal ever tried it? And the refunds are pretty much non existent.

Don't put your eggs all in one basket they will break! Try both and see who performs better for you!

Its pretty common for markets to slow near Christmas except retail obviously.

People are definatly in a browsing mode around this time.

I run client accounts in health, finance, cosmetic and retail everything apart from retail nose dives around Christmas the volume is still there it just doesn't convert as well. Very frustrating

Wow, I thought I was alone. I haven't made any money worth mentioning on cb within the last 10 days. I spent a lot of time on a product that was launched 2 days ago, I've gotten about 150 hops and no sales. That doesn't usually happen. The last time I was involved with a launch I got 2 sales in 8 hops.

CB has been extremely dry over the past 5 days. I don't have any sales. I'm positive there's something wrong now. I don't believe so many people would be experiencing difficulties if there wasn't anything wrong.

I have to say I am feeling a sense of relief and despair at the same time. I have dabbled in the past with CB, but only recently decided to turn my attention to it full time. Over the last few weeks, I have finally been able to drive a sizable amount of free traffic to CB, but in the last several days have only seen 1 sale in about 250 hops.

Glad to see I am not alone (although it sucks for all involved!), yet wondering whether I need to check out this "RapBank" that was promoted above.
