Any websites that pay upfront for articles to International writers?

Hello Warriors,

Greetings of the Day! hope everyone around is getting ready for happy holidays and a promising, potentially-successful 2011...

I was looking at the 2011 calendar (yea, I've already got it LOL) and wondering what I'm going to do to earn more money than I did/am doing in 2010. And then I looked back at one of the tabs in my browser; and I was reading an article on Associated Content.

And I start thinking about alternatives to Associated Content that pay money upfront. Why alternatives?! AC doesn't pay upfront money to non-US writers, let alone Indian writers. I also hear that AC (probably) doesn't pay too well for a good writer's skills.

What could qualify as decent pay for good writing skills? May we start at $5? Most veterans would think $5 is chump change, but I see it as a decent start.

Now I need some help here... Are there websites that pay $5 or more per article (upfront) to writers from many different countries?

Thanks in advance, for any inputs on this.

The only one I am familiar with at the moment is Helium but I no longer write for them as they have recently made changes to the upfront payment system that meant I went from easily earning $50 a day or more in upfronts to almost nothing most days.

It is probably still profitable if you consider that kind of money good. however the real potential in Helium is the advertising revenue. Having said that I have recently come to realise that there is far more money to be made from both my writing and other skills elsewhere. I just need to focus a little to find where that is.

  • theultimate1,

For one, you can get started right here in the Warrior Forum (Warriors for Hire Section). Charge yourself as you deem worth and you are in business.

I don't see why you shouldn't try Elance, Odesk, Peopleperhour and Guru.

Two websites where you can sell content directly are dailyarticle.com and articleme.com.

brighthub.com is another place where you can write and get paid -- open for any writer in the world. WAHM Forum ( Mom's who write section, I guess) has threads popping up every now and then that ask for writers.

You could also try ifreelancer.com, limeexchange.com (this one has low-paying jobs), etc.

I will update if I find any more websites you could write for and earn money directly.

I read your list. What you listed don't all pay UPFRONT. Upfront means, when the order is made. Not when it is delivered.

Technically, you're right. But I guess the ones that pay after delivery of the work would qualify too.

That's why I used the example of Associated Content. They don't pay non-US writers per article published, but instead on pageviews/revenues earned from pages the said articles are published on.

Hi icoachu, I agree with theultimate1. Technically you are ritght, but upfront can also refer to payment after delivery of the work, particularly when compared against ad revenue sharing writing website where you are paid depending on how your article performs, which can mean being paid something very little many months down the line.

Technically, you are wrong. Up-front payment can never be used to refer to payment being made after delivery of the work. Up-front means in advance, beforehand. There is no double meaning to the phrase, no ambiguity. Up-front means up-front. Simple.

    Have you tried Odesk?

They have that kind of option but it still depends on your client if they are going to give the upfront payment. But they take in all writers regardless of nationality as long as you can give them decent result. So far I haven't encountered a client that did not pay me in Odesk They are very legit.

Your own ad or website would be your best bet. Any international website that is offering upfront payment is either very well hidden or very shady. Of course, you better be ready to back yourself up quality/customer service-wise. You'll find that outside of a very low priced offer, buyers don't readily hand over their money to someone who just looks like "one of the crowd".

Make your own website where you can sell your service. People will pay first, then you will write articles. You can place WSO or classified add here is WF too.

If you can write high quality content articles, free of copyright and SEO optimized, you can sell them for much more. Post an offer here, on warrior forum (Warriors For Hire section) and you will find some customers.
If you still believe that $5 is enough, you can try Fiverr, create a gig and promote it a bit.
