Suggestions on how to watermark Youtube videos?

Hi All,

I am about to start watermarking some of my Youtube videos and have never done it to this point.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what programs/utilities I might use?

I'm looking at Vidlogo but I want to see if there's anything better/easier. Also, I would prefer free but if that's not possible then I would consider a paid solution.

Thanks in advance.

Ken

Have you tried Windows Movie Maker? Should be as easy as dropping a JPEG in the corner.

      Thanks Mike...I'm trying that.

Also, I need to put watermarks on Youtube videos that have already been on Youtube for quite awhile.

Is there a way to accomplish that without losing my view counts, etc....?

For videos already on youtube, you will want to use the annotation feature to add messages, but there is no way to really watermark your current videos with a logo once uploaded.

As opposed to watermarking however, you should be looking to "brand" your videos rather than watermark. A faded logo throughout your entire video does not look as professional as it may once have. In addition, your video may very well get hiested from Youtube and your watermark covered up by another one, or entirely zoned out by a content thief > yeah this has happened to me.

By branding a video you use colors, graphics and your logo to consistently represent your website and let viewers know (esp those who follow your CTA) that you have a consistent and professional presentation. Branding also eliminates content thieves from taking your video and mocking it up to make it look like theirs.

So don't look to watermark, look to be branding your videos so they have a longer shelf life and add to your overall business longevity.

Here is a sample of a branded video I did for a client:

Hope that helps you in your future productions.

Thank you Marty for the tips! I never really thought of it this way but makes perfect sense.

I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum and it's great. Often available for under $50.

I also belong to a membership forum that teaches video; he sells cheap how-to dvd's too if you want to learn without joining.

What I learned there more than paid for my membership.

The process in any video editor (cheap or expensive) to watermark is going to be the same: Add your logo in a new layer, position it in the corner and adjust the opacity as desired. But MartyS is correct. It's better to watermark AND brand with logos, color scheme, etc. I find that cutting to custom graphics that illustrate the spoken audio really help to keep your videos from the content thieves.

Why not using Youbute watermark? I happen to get a free copy of it, works totally fine. Strong protection for my Youtube videos. Have a try on it. At least, it never disappoint me.

It's good of you to share what works for you now, but you are commenting on a conversation that was taking place in 2010.

geez, I guess this is an old thread. I didn't realize until someone said something. Not sure why this one was resurrected, but I'm already here.. So I'll post my quick 2 cents...

Just wanted to say I've used Camtasia for YEARS (for screen recording and just as a general video editor) and it's one of easiest and most versatile editors I've used. You can even do green screen now.

It's super awesome software. You can also watermark videos like the OP asked. Plus, I think you can still get a trial for free and try it before you buy it. win-win

Ok, I'm done with this zombie thread
