DO You SELL Big Ticket $2000 per copy products as an affiliate?

Hey guys,

I wanted to know how many of you promote these BIG $2000 per copy products to your list as an affiliate wherein you get $1000 as commissions.

IF yes, how has it been for you? have you been super successful selling them?

how many copies did you sell and how much did you make (if you're cool enough to share the stats i.e.)

The last time I promoted an affiliate program was the experts academy which had $1000 in commissions. That's when I realized that I must have a list... of hungry buyers.

I have sold Frank Kern's List Control and Eben Pagan's Guru Blueprint.

Would be keen on catching with all those who promote these BIG ticket products and what tactics are being used to drive the sales. I'm deeply interested and am listening.

Thanks.

Ronak Shah

I'm taking my first shot at promoting a big ticket item next month. I'd definitely love to hear about any insight anyone might have regarding this.

It took me a lot of time and money to finally make my first commissions. What did I learn that made it happen?

I sell Physical products that costs between 2 and 20K for a 9% commission and it's been working pretty good for me so far. 3 - 5 sales per month is all I need to make a good income in that niche.

Haven't tried selling a high ticket digital item yet so can't comment on that.

Wow, Jan, are these products from Amazon? Are people willing to pay that high of a price online for physical products? Can you talk about how well these products convert?

        Thanks

No this particular niche is not on Amazon but people are buying high ticket stuff on Amazon as well and I am building sites targeting those niches s we speak.

Look at this screenshot for the first 10 days of last month where you will see the conversion and commissions I got from 72 unique visitors.

That sites does that and more every month on Auto pilot and it took me like 4 hours to build it. The competition for these high ticket items is very low at the moment but it won't be for long so I suggest you guys start building sites now.

What do the guarantees look like on this price-tag of product?

What if it's a digital product that someone buys for $1,000, then, just decides to ask for everything refunded?

IM is extremely competive, and the problem with high-end digital IM products is they are short-lived. For the long run, it's perhaps better and easier to sell 100 $20 IM digital products than a shot at 1 $2000 with a 50% commission. (Especially in the case of refunds, LOL!) On the other hand, there are literally thousands of affiliate programs for just about any physical product you can think of. And with a lot less competition.

My specialties besides a few highend Amazon and CJ products have been in communications and medical sales, where equipment/supplies orders are typically 60,000, with a 10% commission. The big bucks is in very narrow market niches. Whatever your niche, you must know the market and have sites that speak the language directly to that market.

I believe that the products Jan is promoting are physical products, so even though their prices are high, you'll only earn about 9% or so at most on a sale.

In response to your question, it is entirely possible to promote high-ticket digital courses, but this only works well (in my opinion) if you promote to your own email list. You will need to build up some trust with them before they buy on your recommendation, so I wouldn't suggest doing this unless you've already developed a relationship with your list; do not try this with a fresh or new list, as your results are likely to be dismal.

If it's a physical product and it's sold within the EU, chances are they deduct the VAT part first, before paying out commission.

For example, here in the UK, VAT is 20% from January 1st, 2011.

So an £8,000 product would be sold at £9,600 inclusive of VAT.

The company might pay me 9% of the product before VAT, which would be 9% of £8,000 = £720.

However, this is only 7.5% on the figure with VAT included.

So I suspect the 9% commission is on the product AFTER VAT is taken out.

Nobody's saying he made 9% commission. Paul is simply observing that promoting products like this will only make you 9% commission at most.

So to save others the math, I calculated the commission reflected in that screenshot for reference. Since it is indeed under 9% as Paul stated, that supports his statement - that by promoting these products, you will make 9% commission or less.

My bad. I had automatically edited his post in my head to insert the word "about" before the 9% figure, because I was sure that's what he meant.

This has been brought up in another post. Jan wont reveal his sources. I guess its a matter of spending enough time looking online hoping you will eventually find something.

  • To your topic, I'll share this. Large ticket items, especially product launches have got a lot harder to convert recently. A year or two ago, it was possible to make quite a bit if you had a decent sized list and a good bonus offer.

Now, there is a lot more competition, everyone has some super incredible bonsus offer that you must have, $600 cash back, yada yada yada. Making your profit potential much less.

The whole reason why I am sharing this, is not to discourage you, but to give you some solid information on where the market is right now. And most importantly remember, that if you treat you're list like gold it will reap gold back to you. And never advertise a product simply because of the payout, because if it turns out to be complete garbage, you will have lost far more than you gained.

I don't like to promote products to my list unless I've seen them first.

The big $2,000 products don't get offered to me for review pre-release, and at release they tend to sell out quickly. So even if I bought one, I wouldn't have time for a review before it was sold out and pointless to promote anyway.

When I give an affiliate link for a $2,000 product to my list, it's a lead-in to several other links for less-expensive products that do the same thing. Products I've actually bought or reviewed myself. I don't expect anyone to buy the big-ticket product, but I include an affiliate link just in case.

Because hey, I may not feel comfortable telling you to buy it, but I'm perfectly comfortable taking my cut of the sale if you do.

I promote high priced physical products, they can convert just as well with the right traffic, although that sort of traffic is rarer (and has become rarer since the recession depending on the niche).

With physical products you tend to get a 3 figure commission from such products.

In the IM niche big ticket products do sell, but conversions are very low so you tend to need a big list. A common tactic is to offer the best bonus or to rank for the product in Google inc. longtail searches (paid or organic) in order to capture the last click to get the commission.

A friend of mine built a site with an Alexa rank in the 500,000 area, and tried to sell a $2000 affiliate product through it, and he had lots of traffic, but no conversions. I told him that with that kind of traffic, he needs to get a $20 to $40 product on there.

I should be seeing him again for New Year's eve. If he followed my advice, I will let you folks know what the results are.

I prefer high ticket products and services OUTSIDE the IM niche.
There are a TON of evergreen niches full of hungry buyers who
will pay thousands of dollars for quality products and services.

For example, professional investors will routinely pay big $$ for
a top-notch trading system. Often these systems will only
be sold in limited copies and they tend to sell very quickly.

There's a lot of niches like this and many of them are totally
      untapped by other internet marketers.

The most expensive affiliate product that I've offered for sale
was $100,000. That was via Bill Bartmann's affiliate program,
and didn't manage to sell any here.

The most expensive ebook that I've sold was $997, that was
Jim Straw's ebook, and fellow Warriors have bought copies
    from me.

Looking at the IM space, I have done well with some launches.
The key there is offering a crazy bonus. People often buy just
to get the bonus and affiliates often compete just for bragging
    rights.

I actually wrote a special report on the topic that I need to
    dust off.

I honestly have not found selling big ticket any harder than
selling impulse items. It's all positioning, and being able to
    show the value!

I'll also add that my testing and observations show that
with many higher priced items, they sell much, much better

Ive had *some* success in finding higher priced items using this method below. Its by no means 100% bullet proof, but it often finds products that are certainly "interesting"

Go to www.google.com and type in

    "order now" + "downloadable pdf" + $197

Change it up as you need. Try mixing up the keywords such as "immediate download", or "immediate access" etc etc. I guess you could probably change up the "downloadable pdf" to whatever youre interested in finding also. Maybe "coaching program" , or "resale rights" etc etc.

As for pricing, well, the skies are the limits.

Event tickets come to mind, reading this thread. I've packaged some 3-digit IM event tickets with personal coaching / one-on-one planning time while the attendee is at the event & even packaged in virtual assistant / content services.

Events are neat to market because you can get out and network while you are there, and package in your own products and services, making your own event specials unique.

There are lots of high end furniture sellers who offer affiliate payout in the 5-10% range. Doable since the specific makes and models tend to be pretty decent keywords in a lot of cases.

There's a number of fine art galleries and brokers who offer similar payouts. Tricky marketing on those, IMO, unless you REALLY know your stuff. But if you can talk the talk, forums are great places to sell single pieces.

Men's watches is another. I don't think too many people are buying quarter-million dollar collector's pieces online, but lots of people who go to the local jeweler and find an Omega Seamaster they fall in love with for $4k will probably start digging online, hoping to find it a thousand bucks cheaper. I think thewatchery.com still offers an affiliate program. Do your dilligence, though. I remember there being trouble with that one somehow before...I think.

You guys can go to the Google aff network, Linkshare and even CJ.com to find affiliate programs for high ticket items.

Also on Amazon if you choose a category do a blank search and then on the top right you will see a drop down box. Select "list price high to low" this will show you some real high ticket stuff.

One example I like to use is private jet charters. I believe they pay around 9% per booking and they have aff programs I checked. How about building a review site that reviews them all and sprinkle your aff links in there?

To Johnny, it says pending because there is a 2 month return period on the items just like on Amazon so I won't get paid until the 2 months return period has expired.
