How Many Warriors Will Be Working On Christmas Day ? Let's Get Some Stats !

Hey fellow warriors...

I was interesting in obtaining some data here....
and I think it would be benificial to everyone, so
please put in your vote.

I am wondering....

How many Warriors plan to be online Christmas Day ?

Will it be business as usual for most ? Or....

Is the percent of people that will shut off the computer on Christmas Day,
to spend it with family HIGHER then the percent of people that will be online ?

There are so many different scenarios. Some people live alone,
some people have huge Christmas Dinners, Some people don't
celibrate Christmas at all, and Some people will have had
too much egg-nogg to operate a computer ! lol :p

SO, put in your vote.

Do YOU plan on being "online" Christmas Day at the Warrior Forum ?

Having been forced to stay offline for several months due to an illness I intend to work extensively on Christmas night after my wife and kids are in bed and on Christmas day after I have spent the monrnign with the family.

While my kids and wife are enjoying/playing with their gifts I'll be enjoying some quality work time.

    Respectfully,

I don't have to plan it. Why?

My online presence is automated...It's on autopilot...I just see myself working online each and everyday.

Ask other warriors and they will tell you it's true that King Shiloh is always online, of course working.

I'm invited to gatherings at 2 different friends houses,
but since my friends spend as much time as I do online
(they just spend it at Farmville), I'm sure I'll be online
    some.

Even when out cruising or partying I'm reachable by
my team members. I have iPhone apps that also keep
me in touch with some things... like my hosting company.

However, now when I work on Christmas day it's only
if I want to and am doing something that I enjoy... which
might imply I lead a boring life. I've notice that my friends
whose bosses give them the day off sit around talking
about work at these gatherings. They just spend a lot of
time complaining about their jobs, and I tell them that I'll
be in Aruba in 2 weeks :-)

Christmas is always going to be a family day for me but in order for me to be the best family man I can I have to also support my family. If you really want something you can't let distractions restrict you. So on the big day I will be working like it is any other day, until I pass out on my laptop from feeling like a stuffed turkey. Some one has to take care of the responsibilites. Even if that means losing some shut eye.

I plan to work 'jack in the box style' on Christmas Day. Most of it will be spent with the family, cooking and playing with new toys but during the break times I'll probably pop on.

Right after we eat one of 3 meals, (yes, that's right, I said 3 MEALS,) and we are sufficiently stuffed and barely able to roll off the couch, a movie or three will come to order and I will undoubtedly place my laptop on, well... my lap and check in at WarriorForum, post to my blog, bookmark more outsourcing services (I'm on a kick), and of course, check stats and email.

I'll still be online on and off checking up on things on Christmas day, but won't really be working per se. It'll be a light day for me, and with all the eating I'll be doing on that day, I'll be too stuffed to do any serious work. I'll most probably also check in here, make a few posts and do some light browsing.

Nope. I worked many hours to set up all of my sites months and months ago to ensure that I don't have to work when I don't want to. My little nephew is coming. I'll be enjoying his company and taking bets on how long it'll take him to tip over the Christmas tree.

Actually I probably wouldn't even be awake and on here right now, but said nephew and his mom are driving to Colorado and I'm terrified they are going to hit nasty weather (or at least icy roads) in Flagstaff...

I'll hopefully be working online, depending on the hangover from Christmas Eve. I tend to celebrate Christmas Eve more with plenty of drinks in the evening, rather than Christmas Day as my family is over in the UK and I'm in Thailand. I can't go out for Christmas Dinner here because nowhere caters for me as I'm a vegetarian. In a funny sort of way, I quite like it like that - just as long as my Christmas Eve is fun.

I'm sure I will find myself drawn to the computer to get some "work" in, after all it is one of my favorite things to do!

Plus my husband is working a double shift so I'm just having my father and sister over for dinner and then the rest of the day is for me!

Hubby and I will celebrate on Monday (his day off) so I probably won't be working that day .... well, ok, I'm sure I won't be able to resist checking my email and the threads here but other than that and any customer problems I won't be working!

Offline and spending time with my kids and family. No point making money if you don't enjoy life.

Seriously, will 1 day off make that much difference to your bottom line?

      Life's too short.

I suggest people grab a copy of the 4 hour work week.

Exactly, it's one day. One big holiday. Take it off. No reason to work on this day unless forced to do so.

It is worth noting that this year, christmas day falls on a Saturday.

And most Warriors don't work on Saturdays anyway.

In addition, it's worth noting that when you start a thread asking "are you going to do X?" in any forum anywhere, the overwhelming majority of responses will always come from people saying "yes." It's a social thing; human beings like to either agree or argue with the opinions of others, so people who disagree are only going to chime in if they think they can change someone else's mind.

You don't seem to get it.

Human beings do not normally say "no" and leave.

They say "no" and explain why YOU should say no, too.

Nobody is going to do that here.

So the only people responding to this thread are going to be the people who are saying "yes."

They're not lying or pretending or anything. They're honestly saying "yes." But you are not getting a valid impression or statistic of any sort, because the people who would say "no" aren't going to show up.

It's still a good way for everyone who will be working to get together and say "yay, we're all going to be working, good for us" because that's a valid and useful thing human beings like to do. But don't fool yourself into thinking you're learning anything except "people like to cluster."

This is a tough question to answer as I don't work too many days during
the month as it is. I'll put in an hour or two here and there when I feel I
need or want to, but my days of working 9 to 5 are over.

I might write an article on Christmas day and call it a day after that. I
honestly don't know. Depends on how bored I get before I take the family
to the in-laws for Christmas dinner.

Today I wanted to finish up my EZA challenge (I was shooting for 200 articles
in the 100 days) so I wrote 4 today. But had I not had to, I probably would
have taken the whole day off.

So tomorrow is kind of up in the air for me. If an emergency pops up, like a
site going down or something like that, yes, I'll drop everything and get on
it. But for the most part, I have no real plans for tomorrow.

I'll be working at least part of the day, even if it's only monitoring the Incansoft help desk. Our kids are grown and on their own. They do their own thing on Christmas Day, and they spend part of Christmas Eve with us. We feasted today and gave the grandkids their presents. Frankly, if it weren't for my wife and grandkids, I don't know that I'd celebrate Christmas at all.

I will be online a bit here and there. Checking stats which I find intoxicating, lol. I have very little family and I am in a long distance relationship. My SO will be here all next week and I will barely be online. And that is what I love so much. I can take the time I want or need. I can work at odd hours and days and the best part is it doesn't feel like work because I am happy with what I am doing.

I don't work on holidays such as Christmas and New Year's Eve. These are important occasions where I'll spend more time with my family and loved ones. A few days off from my business and work activities won't hurt. Besides, family and friends are more important than money for me.

One day off from work/business = hundreds of dollars in lost profits
Time spent with family and loved ones in just one day = PRICELESS!

It's not that you have nothing else to do. It's that you're the one in charge of whether you do it.

When you have a family, there are all these other people in your life, and they have this annoying tendency to need things from you, and for some reason you actually care whether they get them.

I felt that way when I was broke though too. I'd work constantly through the night until I passed out on a mattress on the floor next to my desk. First thing when I woke up I'd jump right back into work. I did that for over 12 years straight and never once thought twice about it. Cool thing is my wife is super cool and loves the work just like I do so she works alongside of me like a freak too.

I don't regard my internet activity as work as I enjoy it so much. However, I decided to make it a lazy day as so many people are likely to be offline.

Apart from the forum and Twitter, I've been researching a report that I'm planning, trying to get a handle on how best to approach it. I expect to also have a look at a few short videos that I'll put up as posts on my blog over the next few weeks.

    Merry Christmas to all,

It is Christmas day and I have been working.

My day job (grave yard shift) is security. I do an hour tour when I arrive and a half hour tour when I leave. The rest of the shift I set the alarm on my phone to do a 10 minute tour.

The rest of the time I work on and/or study IM.

Whats even better is that the security company I work for and the client both know this is what I do and have no problem with me doing this.

Unfortunately, I'm not making a lot of money on the internet yet.

Will I ever be willing to leave this quiet, office space where I am being paid
    to work on my business?

      Yes, I will be working.

I do celebrate Christmas, but we have already had our family gatherings due to everyone else's schedules.

Kids are grown and will be doing their own thing with the grandchildren, so it's just me, the wife and my mother - who we care for.

Mother usually sleeps most of the day, and the wife is working on a project for one of the g/kids, so I am going to utilize my time best I can.

I intend to spend the next week preparing for 2011 - establishing my goals and doing my best to devise a consistent plan of action for at least January.

2010 has not been what I would have liked, but to my own negligence, no one else's.

So, I am determined to change that this year, and I need all the time I can get before then.

Will take a break now and then to drop by here and browse a little, but mostly studying the things I want to implement for the upcoming year.

Hope you all have a Very Merry Christmas.

      God Bless You All!

Well its 8.30 pm on Christmas day here ... and I am slacking off.

I got up at 630 am (my normal time) and spent 2 hours scratching together the bones of a website and sending out some emails. Then stopped to enjoy my grandson opening his presents .. checked a couple of forums and spent the rest of the day enjoying time with my family and friends.

Now I am back to check forums and send out some more emails .. then I have a week off. I will be visiting my mother and internet access is limited, so I will be able to quickly check emails and reply .. but that is all.

    Merry Christmas to all Warriors.

I plan on spending a good part of the day with family and checking into the Warrior forum several times to keep myself updated on the information that I am most interested in.

Because ,,, My websites operate 24/7 just like everyone else's ... I will be available.

Sometimes there are inquiries that just need to be handled by e-mail, and I will check several times ... and respond as necessary, it is easy to do that in a few minutes.

Some people watch a lot of television, others find pleasure in their hobbies or sports ... I did find pleasure being on the Internet and having so much information available to me.

    All the best ... Ron

And that's exactly why I made the comment.

We are all here to build a business that takes care of itself as much as possible.

But you got to be careful that you don't enslave yourself to it... keep some balance in life. I made that mistake a few years back and pretty much missed the first 3 years of my son's life. I swore that would never happen again.

Fact is that you can train your customers to accepting your erms and still keep them happy.

Heck, almost every other business does so... so why not us?

Have had the PC on since mid-afternoon with the intention of doing something useful, but never quite got there as even this morning's hangover did not detract from this one being the best Christmas I've ever had, one that unusually I just didn't want ever to end. It really was that fab thanks to the kids - if ever there was a day that I wish I could bottle and keep it was this one. Days like that don't keep though, but IM does and will still be there tomorrow. I wouldn't have changed a thing. Except maybe the hangover I hope everyone else had a great day too

I guess it all depends on your current situation.
Some people have family, so it's family first...
but some don't have any family at all.

I wish everyone a Happy Holiday no matter what your situation is.

    cheers
    Jeff
