Is it hard to beat a page rank 2 site?

Hi warriors,

Would it be possible to beat a website that has a page rank of 2? If i buy the domain with the keyword in it, will it help me rank above the other site?

Thanks Warriors

    PR 2?

Yes, you can. But it all depends on their seo. I've seen PR2's beat
higher PR sites. You need to evaluate their seo to get a better idea
    of what you're up against.

No. Page rank 2 means your site is the best possible site about everything. You will never outrank that site. It will be the top search listing for every search you ever do on any search engine ever.

      Qualification...

You cannot beat a PR 2 unless you're smoking what CD is. Or,
your bottle of wormwood is a better wintage.

It depends on other factors. How many backlinks does it have? Are any of them high-pr or .edu or .gov? Most sites can be beat, it just depends on how much time you have and how determined you are.

My page is PR0 and I regularly top PR1 through PR5 competitors in search results.

Page rank just isn't very important.

on my experience PR doesn't have much value for SEO compitition. You can find sites with very little PR or even without it appear on the top of the search results.

There so many other factors that go into ranking a page that PR should only be a minimal consideration.

Just do a search on any keywords and look at the top 10 results, are they in order of PR? You will routinely see lower PR sites outranking higher PR sites.

Also, the public PR has not been updated since last April so that site could be a PR0 or a PR10 now.

Raking websites based on PR was past.... ! Using blackhat methods webmaster have manipulated it and hence PR have negligible importance rather content ... fresh unique content and relevant backlinks rules

That's certainly been my exact experience, with all my websites. (I even think as long as the content's regularly updated, that's good, even if it isn't all necessarily unique ... and as long as the backlinks are context-relevant ones, I don't mind plenty of low-PR ones with some higher ones).

I certainly wouldn't let the fact that a site was PR-2 put me off competing with it.

I think it was a great answer - how do you seriously answer such a question?

I can do it - most (not all) answering this question can do it. Don't know if the OP can do it or not. Time - quality - links - more time - work - that's it.

How do you seriously answer such a question? Easy Kay, you answer with a serious
answer. Why would you or anyone else think that everybody else here knows the
          answers to (perhaps) obvious questions?

Nice to see you feel so strongly about it. More reminiscent of basement goings on. How
refreshing, Kay, and a real pleasure to see you.

I dont think its hard. Better think twice if its a PR 8 or 7 site but that is the case before when pR says something about a site's ranking. Right now its all about getting backlinks.

Actually, page rank two is very easy to beat if your site is tightly targeted to the keyword. EMDs help a lot too

    Of course it's possible.

Page Rank isn't everything, in fact some would argue it's nothing.

Check the number of backlinks they have and your internal willingness to get your own quality backlinks, add fresh content, etc. See if they are optimized at all for their keywords (onsite SEO - like bold, italics, h1, h2, h3 tags for their keywords, title containing keywords, etc.)

If you're not willing to put forth the effort, you'll struggle to outrank even a PR0 site.

Yeah, but those people are wrong. PageRank only really goes to 2. That's the big secret; all those other PageRanks are fake, and Google only awards them to screw with you so you can't tell PR2 is the secret code for "best site EVAR."

To rank higher than a page 2 ranked site you'll have to build up you backlinks with the correct anchor text. That's the only way you'll be able to out rank that site based on a keyword.
