Need some advice from the experts

Hi there,

I'm creating a product in personal finance, it's a system really to make managing your finances very simple. What I'm struggling with is what kind of product to create. I'm torn between an e-book and a video series. I think the obvious answer is to do both but that will delay bringing the product to market for a while.

Wondering if the additional value would be worth the delay. Just looking for opinions.

    Hi Paul,

Both items can stand alone; ebook or video series. What I've been noticing lately is that products with both a guide and a video series are getting better reviews. It really depends on your situation though. If creating both would slow production too much a well done video series can still do very well. Stand alone ebooks will have a harder time because people do not feel as engaged in the material. If you choose to do a stand alone ebook I would suggest having a very good support desk. Ebooks normally make for more questions.

So in short, both is best. If you must do one do a well planned out video series.

    That is just my opinion.

    Best Regards,

It seems that creating a book can take much longer than producing a video, products including ebooks and video sell at a premium.

A common practice for the high volume product creators is to record a video. them outsource a transcription to text (if you no great typist) revise and expand on the text with added tables and pics. you can also easily make an mp3 audio version from the video.
Your subject matter probably calls for a more exacting academic approach than some if the off the cuff videos that are literally shot in one take.

Thanks for the quick feedback. I really like the idea of creating the video and having someone transcribe and turning that into a manual. Kind of a "duh" moment for me if you know what I mean.

Now if I just learn how to market it I'll be on to something...

        Nothing to see here
