Need sales reps./affiliates for my web design company and willing to pay $300+ per sale. Any advice?

Hi,

As the title says, I run a small, yet successful web design company. The clients we have done work for include sole professorships to Fortune 500 companies.

Do you guys and gals have any advice in recruiting a strong sales force?

Basically, I'm willing to pay $300 - $500+ per sale of a new web project. But I have never done work with sales reps. so I'm a little out of the loop on how I should structure everything and get the ball rolling.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

I have been active in b2b sales for years in my day job, and usually always as a commission only rep.

To acquire the best reps, they will almost certainly want to work on a high commission percentage, as the good ones will prefer to work that way rather than taking a reduced percentage with a small monthly retainer.

The problem being that many of these people will be strong entrepreneurs themselves, and it may be difficult getting them to commit set times for your product. One way to overcome this possibly is to perhaps offer them an extra incentive like a minority ownership in your business after the first years provided they achieve certain sales targets. Another way to help motivate them is to provide a significant bonus once they hit 'reasonable but challenging targets'.

Are you looking for a worldwide sales force? or just sales people within your locality?

If you need some more detailed advice, just PM me as I have about 20+ years of high tech sales, sales management, and business ownership experience that I can help guide you in the right direction

    Hi Warren,

As for the scope and location of the sales force, I'm looking to concentrate on the U.S. only for now.

And yes, you are right about giving a higher commission rate out from the start. It will be a lot more motivating.

Thanks for your input and advice!
