Your Compression Program Of Choice?

This question is mainly for guys/gals who run WSO's but if you don't feel free to contribute as well.

I'm interested to know when you upload either to WSO Pro, your own host, or a File Hosting service, what program do you use to compress/archive all the files into one. So for example do you use WinZip, WinRAR, 7-Zip etc? If your files are of an excessive size, do you use the split archive feature if it is available? Do you know how to split archives into smaller sizes?

I use my own host for product deliveries and I only use basic zip compression. I never split the zips, rar or any other utilities because newbies won't know what to do with the files causing support.

If the files are massive I quote the size in the sales letter. People attach value to big downloads

I've been using the open-source program PeaZip for awhile now, and I've been quite happy with it.

No, I don't split files, for all the above reasons...

Never split your compression file, since it will confuse your costumer, specially if your costumer totally newbie. Personally, I use winZIP and winRAR

Pretty much the same as everyone so far.

    Compressed into .zip

Another vote here for zipping it up. I self-host and use winzip.

You may or may not be aware, Mike, but if you use WSO Pro you can configure it to send your customers to a URL immediately after purchase. By doing this, if you have a large download file you can break it up into several download links on your download page.

Also, as far as I am aware, folks buy WSOs using mobile devices (if I'm wrong warriors please tell me) and a lot of these don't have unzipping functionality. So consider unzipped downloads too (i.e. .pdf .mp3 .mp4 files etc) on your download page.

      Hope this helps.

      Garry.

I am using WinZip. I am not sure if there is any split archive feature in the program. And I think it's not recommended to split archives. I just use the program for practical purpose: create a smaller size of the archive to minimize use of space.

I only use ZipGenius... I love that program.

Keep things simple, keep it one file.

    Hope that helps,
