Special Tip for the Day!

To mark this momentous occasion (the new forum), I'm posting a couple tips I've picked up over the years... These are copywriting tips, marketing tips, and little tidbits I've used to make money over the years, and hopefully they'll help you too.

Tip #1 - Pay attention to details. I just spent two weeks distributing my email address without the "_" because I forgot it had one. Don't forget the details!

Tip #2 - Read. Not just marketing stuff, read things for fun, too. It'll improve your mental abilities, and therefore your marketing - and income.

Tip #3 - Work for something other than money. I don't mean barter, I mean work towards what money can BUY you - not the money itself.

Tip #4 - Never count someone out as a JV partner. Find a great product on Clickbank that you're interested in? If it relates at all to anything you're currently promoting, send them a message. You never know.

Tip #5 - Set yourself apart. Be different. Be yourself. Don't be "professional" the way some people see it... Don't refer to yourself as "we" if you're a "you". People relate better to those who are just like themselves.

Tip #6 - Don't neglect your warrior friends. Some of my most lucrative business deals have been built through this forum, and some of my best online friends have been made here. Don't take it for granted.

Tip #7 - Monkey see, monkey sell. Act as your customers do, and you'll understand them better. Which means you can sell to them better.

Tip #8 - Outsource what you don't know. I don't just say that because I'm a copywriter, I say it because it's more profitable that way. I outsource all of my graphic creation, because to be blunt, I suck at it. It would take me longer (and cost me more) to learn "not to suck" than it would to pay someone who already knows how to do it well.

Tip #9 - Underpromise & overdeliver. One of the core principles of sales. Promise enough to get the customer - deliver enough to keep them for life.

Tip #10 - Be honest, be yourself, know your strengths & weaknesses, and have fun. With just those four things, you can make a living online. I promise.

Hope those are informative... I'll post some more secretive stuff later on.

- Cherilyn

    Cherilyn,

GOOD stuff. Here are a few I passed on to the kids:

    1) Life's not fair. But you can always go to one and eat cotton candy.
    2) If you paid for an answering machine, let it do it's job or not every call has to be answered.
    3) Accept criticism and praise like a duck accepts water, the cooling mist of a gentle summer rain or the icy harsh winter thunderstorm...let both roll off your back.
    4) Not every question needs an answer.
    5) Your opinion of me is none of my business.
    6) Slow Down and Follow Through.
    7) Money may eat more lobster and shrimp, but it has more gout.
    8) If you can't say something nice about someone, YELL obscenities in their general direction.
    9) People who don't want to change or remake you care as much about you as you care about yourself.
    10) If you don't change directions soon, you'll get where you're going.

Hey, get enough of these, write a book.

really great post, everyone in business should live by those standards,

Your list should be on a poster, and be hung in every office.

I really love the part where you say work for somthing other than money. got the chills.

I have noticed that the people who have a vision or purpose other than money are driven by somthing other than theirself, and the result is massive wealth and success.

Money cannot be your motivating factor or you will give up when the money isnt coming in right away.

Wow, if you are going to Bump an ancient Thread at least expound a little.

I never recall myself resurrecting an old Thread, But if you have something truly contributing to say then I will not hold it against you for the resurrection.

But come on this is ridiculous !!

Maybe it's because it's a bumped 7 year old thread,
by someone who's last activity was almost a year ago.
Not much chance of her seeing the thanks.

It is possible they already used up all 20 thanks for the day.

It happens to me a few times that I thanked to many people for that 24 hour thing. If it reseted at midnight it would be easier to manage the thank yous.

The original post is worthy of many thanks

Disclaimer: I pressed quick reply under your post thinking it would quote what you wrote. I deleted my failed attempt. Hopefully newbies will realize quick reply is just to add a new post without any quote. I do not post or reply often on this forum.

      AMAZING

We have 7-8 people who JUST IDENTIFIED THEMSELVES as those those who post without first READING the thread...

My question is: How do you FIND a 2008 thread to bump? This is happening daily and all it does is make you look clueless.

Too bad we can not "bulk" report posts to mods and have these threads closed immediately

So people failed to notice the tiny 2008 post date. Old threads getting bumped is not the norm, so I suspect the majority of people will miss it.

In other words: big deal. These people have identified themselves as people who - such a crime - failed to notice the minute post date.

Anyone can get caught up in a bumped thread on occasion but some seem to focus on finding and bumping old threads.

Some of us see it as a lack of attention to detail, a lack of business smarts, etc. I don't choose to visit a link or buy from someone who thinks details are irrelevant in business, but that's just me.

To each his own - but when people do something ridiculous (7 yr old thread) others will point it out...and someone will say "it doesn't matter". Same old.

I can understand why it would be no big deal, to the ever increasing amount of people that post just to get themselves or their sig files seen,
spare a thought for those that have to wade through all the ancient threads,
in the diminishing hope of finding something new and interesting to read.
Unfortunately, bumping old threads is becoming the norm.

So now I'm a bit curious. I joined this forum a few weeks ago, and I saw quite a bit discussion about showing the signatures without having something to say.
Now I can't see any signature in the threads like I'm used to in other forums. Could it be that only older members can see them in threads? I do see them when I visit a profile, btw.

Of course, responding to comment on the problem is, after all, another way of getting your sig links exposed. Now, there's marketing savvy. lol

At least that answers my question. I thought the signatures were visible below the post for old members. Btw, I do not plan a signature here because I do not see any value pointing you to a german site. Just here for learning. That's a bit hard because of the noise, but then again it's amusing.

      ...and it just keeps going

I can't see any signature in the threads like I'm used to
Go into your "edit option" list (use the "user CP' in the red toolbar above) - and go to "thread option" and make sure the box next to "show signatures" is checked. I expect that's where your problem is.
