Brain Storming - Creative? Please help me with a name

Hello Warriors,

After reading a few of the latest threads here I have decided that I would like to try and start my own article directory.

But I have been sitting here brain storming for the past 5 hours and I cannot think of anything suitable.

Please will you suggest what ever comes to mind, it does not need to be available - I just need ideas.

So far I think I would like to have the word "info" in it, but please suggest what ever comes to mind.

This is what I have so far:

infoking
wordking
articleking
readthis
ithink
articlepro
mrsgeek
infohut

findinfo

infosurf
netinfo
hotinfo
fastinfo
newinfo

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR INPUT - I am stuck here lol

What I always do is get the main word like you did "info"

Then go down the list of 3 letter words and find one I like. Just google 3 letter word list.

Like the only article directory I ever made I ended up using articletom (never did launch). Just my main keyword and a 3 letter word. Make it short, easy to remember, and brandable.

I would go with something like www.articles-about.com and the use a sub-domain for the separate sections. Like www.articles-about.com/traffic to give you the maxium seo potential for the website.

    Hey! Hi!

You have had some brilliant suggestions....
I believe in calling a spade a spade.

So my choices would be along the lines of
    articledirectory
    authoritysite
    articleindex
    informationsource
    infovault

but if single names are available - which I realize they are not likely to be

    articles
    information
    source
    knowledge
    words
    wisdom

I had better stop or I will be spending hours sitting here thinking...

    have fun!

PS John Wilkes idea is great -

    WOW!!

Thank you very much to everyone - this is a great list.

These suggestions are helping me right now with my brain storming, I really love infoworld or anything to that effect as it means that there is a large amount of info (which there is going to be) another idea was also infobase which is cool.

I am back to brain storming, a BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE - and please feel free to keep them coming

Go to a domain registrar (like godaddy.com) and type in one of the domains that you like, e.g. infowhatever.com or articlewhatever.com. Most likely it won't be available but godaddy will return a big list of other domains with "info" or "article" in them and other similar words that WILL be available. That would be easier than finding out that all of the ones you were wanting are already taken.

Nameboy.com is another good one for getting suggestions.

If you're hosting it on the Internet it will do better if the title matches the domain name.

In addition also check for trademark status.
      Search Trademark Database
Search International Trademark Registrations (Madrid Express)
      Free International Trademark Searches

e.g. InfoWorld is an IT resource that's been around a long time and is trademarked.

I wouldn't use godaddy specifically for this... they have a history of snagging searched for domain names and holding them for a few days trying to sell them at a premium.

I think it is generally difficult to brainstorm on this topic, because the list of available domains is getting smaller and smaller, I would guess that 95% of the suggestions given here will not work since the domain is already taken. So, I would guess that 3 words suggestions give you much better chances then 2 words suggestions.

You can also use a service called domains bot dot com. Just go to the site and enter info in the search bar and hit enter, you will go to their main site and then you just go through the filters to extract teh set of domain names you want to look at.

It is a pretty cool tool.

Great suggestions coming in, I have discovered my problem.

My problem is that I am wanting a domain name that has authority, for example I really like infoworld as it has authority and means a large collection of info, same as infobase it has authority.

This is why I am struggling so much, any ideas on using "info" and have the name show authority?

Perhaps it is the word "info" that lacks authority. It sounds like kind of a shortcut word. There in nothing wrong with that word, it just might not convey authority.

Very true, you might be on to something there.

Hmm, well its going to be an article directory that is going to be VERY VERY strict. At first I am going to make it private and only put my articles in and see how that goes, as the main idea for the directory is to promote my sites.

What are you suggesting, do you recommend I start thinking about a new word instead of info?

Moving onto something else? I don't think so, I must admit yes I have done that on more than one occasion, but as you can see here I am dead serious about this project and I feel it is going to be a great addition to my online assets.
