Is there an email spam registry?

I was wondering if there is such a thing as an email address spam registry?

I've noticed that for some reason in the past couple of months the emails from and TO my family from my regular email address are not arriving. They dont even seem to go into the spam folders (neither mine nor my families). So I was thinking if its possible that someone somehow reported my email address as a spammer and this somehow communicates to the email networks not to let anything with my emails address in the header through. Is this possible? And if this is the case, how can I get myself de-listed?

Ive been using this yahoo address for 5 years now, without any trouble - I really dont want to give it up. I do still get emails from some of my friends but suspiciously those addresses are all yahoo too. Thanks for any help!

p.s: And no, I cant recall ever using this email address for "spamming". Maybe its my IP address that got onto some list?

  • Not like the Do Not Call List:
Feds reject anti-spam registry ? The Register

But you can check a few places:
    The Spamhaus Project

Also go to Email Blacklist Check - See if your server is blacklisted

and check the ip address of your mail server
Since Yahoo has numerous mail servers, go to a command prompt and ping mail.yahoo.com and use that ip address

You can also check it here:
    SpamCop.net - Blocking List ( bl.spamcop.net )

  • As soon as you mentioned yahoo, I knew the answer was in your question. All free email services are totally unreliable. Thats why some optin forms ask you NOT to subscribe using yahoo, aol, hotmail, msn, etc. etc.

Take charge of your business get your own domain and say good bye to big brother, read what you want to read not what yahoo wants you to read.
  • Thanks for the links but Im afraid it wasnt really helpful. I pinged my yahoo when I was logged in and when I look up that IP address in the blacklist it says its not listed. Well, this is a mail server IP so I would be surprised if it was. I was rather looking for a tool that can tell if a specific yahoo email address is blacklisted or not. Is this possible? Also, is it possible to set an SMTP authentication with my free yahoo email account? Im thinking lacking this could be the problem.
