Why do you use GetResponse?

I'm thinking seriously of using GetResponse.

Additionally to Aweber, not instead of Aweber, in my case.

I have 8 lists at Aweber, but want (a) on the eggs and baskets principle, and (b) because of Aweber's two recent major security breaches, to start my new lists elsewhere.

I wouldn't ever want to move a list from one autoresponder company to another or to divide one between two companies (these are both to be avoided, if possible, in my opinion), but I don't mind spreading the load. And, after Aweber, GetResponse would certainly be my own instinctive "next port of call".

If I were starting off from scratch tomorrow, I'd definitely consider GetResponse.

It depends on the extent to which one is put off by the screw-ups at Aweber this year.

But there's an argument for staying there, too, on the grounds that having had two accidents, they're maybe going to be very carefully security-conscious in future. (It's not unlike the argument for staying with a bank which has made a gross blunder with one's account: they take extra care in future. Perhaps!).

It's actually not an easy decision at all, and potentially a very important one.

The issue with Aweber having been compromised isn't unique to them. This has happened to a lot of services, as list and autoresponder systems are being aggressively targeted in recent months. It's a much bigger problem than most people realize.

The attack vectors aren't always the same, but they're persistent and very carefully targeted.

As far as GetResponse, it's likely more a matter of "when" than "if." And that's not any kind of slam at them. Just looking at reality.

At this point, it may be the case that the only defense is to be too small to be noticed.

I prefer GetResponse, because before the uprgrade they gave all members that are already in good discounts :-))

Because this is a forum were certain things are more popular. Go to another forum and different things are popular.

When people come to this forum as bright-eyed newbies, they are told to use X, Y and Z because those options are the best.. don't questions the resident gurus.

So they follow this advice and pass that info along to the next bright-eyed newbie until you've reached a point were nobody knows why they are using what they do or why they don't like the other options.
