How to "deliver" my product - advice please!

24 replies
Hi,

This is a "newbie" question, so to many of you who know this stuff, please be tolerant :

I am struggling with the mechanics of how to sell an e-book that I have created. I have a template for a "sales page", and I presume I also need a "thankyou page" to allow a buyer to download a product paid for via Paypal on the sales page, but really not sure how to go about this...

Is it a Wordpress site/blog that I would be best creating? Do I then just create the 2 pages and how should those pages be named and interlinked? or is this better done using kompozer and html? REALLY not sure about this at all, which is frustrating because I want to market this (non-IM) e-book, which is totally fresh content (although nothing ground-breaking).

I have a ton of WSO's on IM, how to set up WordPress sites (for Affiliate purposes) but nothing really on what I am trying to do....

Anyone got the time to write me detailed instruction, or point me to where I can get this info?

Happy New Year to all of you!

Thanks - Greg

    There are a number of ways you can do it.

    At the minimum you do need a Sales page and then a thank you page from which the product gets downloaded. the customer will get sent to this page once they pay. Don't call it thank_you.html or php. Give it a random name as that helps keep thieves at bay....(but thats another conversation all together.

    From there it gets more complicated

    I have products that use html, scripts or Wordpress, and others that use a combination of methods. At the moment i use Wordpress for the whole process

    If it's your first product use something like e-junkie to deliver the product it makes it simpler.

    Rather than write a long post it's probably easier if you ask any specific questions.

    Hi Greg,

    All you need is 2 standard HTML pages that host your sales page at index.HTML and your hidden download link atfinishsaleexample.html. Don't link this page with your sales page unless it's a link that sends customers to your order form before they can get any access to your download page. You can protect this page by using a password protection key for the directory you choose to put your download page in so everyone won't have access to this page.

    Hi all4 wom

    You just need to write a sales pages for your ebook that captures your readers attention, and makes them to buy. You could hire a copywriter or write yourself, but having a template for your sales page is not enough. Here's a book that teaches you the BLUEPRINT how to write a compelling and persuasive sales pages that will motive your readers to action (to buy your e-book), it is called Web Copy That Sells

    Once you have your sales page, you can promote it in different advertising sites (there's in UK called FREE UK ADS), use a wordpress template to create ONE page for your "sales page." You can promote it in Clickbank, Ejunkie.

    Hope it helps

    At the bare minimum, you'll need your sales page (index.html) and your product delivery/download page. You can code this all in html from scratch, or use some html sales page templates if you have them.

    Alternatively, you could get a Wordpress sales page theme (something like OptimizePress) that makes creating sales pages a little easier. The Wordpress sales themes usually come with graphics and other formatting/layout features that make creating a sales page a lot more convenient and quicker.

      You won't last long on this forum if you keep this up...

      No one is looking for instructions on how to use Google. Nor were they in the other thread you gave the same reply to. You joined in 2006 and that is the 5th thing you have said since joining... man, have you learnt NOTHING?!

        Sales page on wordpress would be the easiest option technically.

        ejunkie for providing downloading link would be the best and safest option.

      What's this got to do with what the OP is wanting to do? This is a bunch of gibberish crap. Stop it. If you can't post meaningful and helpful posts, then don't post at all!

      To the OP: Look into getting DLguard. It should help you do exactly what you are wanting to do with your product.

    You can save yourself a big headache and just buy DLGuard. You can then use it for all of the products you sell forever. Well worth the price. Creates an expiring download link and automatically delivers link after payment. Don't know what I would do without it.

    Thanks WillR and scrofford for your input.

    Greg

    There are two types of websites you can have A website created in HTML or a website that is a blog

    Google the last couple of years at least have favoured Blogs, especially blogs created in Wordpress It seems that your website will get higher ranking in the SERPS ( Search Engine Results Page).

    You can create the website yourself or get it created by outsourcing it on the Internet.

    You have the sales page and the thank you for your order page / download page.

    If you decide to create a blog its very simple.

    Join a website hosting company. Hostgator is quite good. Once joined inside your account is whats called C Panel. Inside that is a icon called fantastico, which when clicked will install the blog on your domain / website.

    There is a good wordpress plug in called WP Sales automator and there is a wordpress theme that I have just brooght by Armand Morin called marketercms which has many features so that you can have a salespage and or video on your page. It has videos to show you want to do and is very good.

    DL Guard as mentioned is quite good and has been around a few years to protect your download link.

    You may also think of having a backend product, have a " Upsell" meaning when they purchase your initial product they are offered another product that complements your first product.

        Additionally, you may want to disallow the link in your robots.txt file.

        Some people may visit your sales page and then try to use google to find your "thank you" page with an inurl: command.

        I have yet to create my first product, but if I ever bother to do so...I've heard great things about DLGuard.

        As previously mentioned, you can also give e-junkie a try.

        If you use the promo code "CRAFTBOOM" you should be able to secure yourself a 104 day trial.

        (Just looked it up on Google for you, as I remember there being a pretty extensive trial)

        Good luck...

          Don't jump in to anything. Before you start creating pages, you need to understand what your process is going to be, AKA, your "marketing funnel".

          There are two types of marketing funnels. One is the funnel of products you are going to create over the next 12 months, and what steps your customers are going to take. Don't overlook this. You need to know what you're going to take them to next. As you are just getting started, you will find your path...don't stress so much about having it figured out from the start, because you'll be in a completely different place a year from now.

          The second type of marketing funnel is the funnel that determines the sales process for each individual product. There are more than 10 different types of funnels, but I'll give you the first three here. Look them over and determine which works best for what you need, outline your detailed process, then figure out which tools (AKA programs) you need to make it happen.

          Here are three marketing funnel models:

          1. "Traditional"
          Offer: Free report, video, audio, etc.
          ---> Opt in (name and email)
          ---> Online sales letter
          ---> Order form
          * The goal is to get the optin, market to them over and again. This option gives them the sale now, while they are interested. You now try to contact the people who opted in and didn't buy.

          2. "List Building"
          Offer: Free report, video, audio, etc.
          ---> Optin
          ---> Thank you process

          3. "Setting up the next sale"
          Offer: Free report, video, audio, etc.
          ---> Optin (You have a "surprise" bonus that you don't tell about)
          ---> Offer #2: Free or paid teleseminar or webinar (this is where they will get additional information from you (this is also your sales presentation to them)
          ---> Registration form (Address, phone, info needed)
          ---> Thank you page

          *The goal in this model is to get the people who are very open to new information from you

          Finally, I highly recommend a book called "The Official Get Rich Guide To Information Marketing On The Internet" by Robert Skrob & bob Regnerus. They give all kinds of detailed information on what you are asking about.

          Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you need more information.

      whatever you decide? use some system that either creates
      expiring links or an account that your customers can log in to.

      DLGuard is very good and you will not out-grow for some time.

      SmartDD is also a good product and has a free version that works
      well, but only allows a few products (4 or 5)
