Why Your Traffic Method Doesn't Work

Ever try a targeted traffic method and couldn't get the expected results?

This is a common problem I've dealt with when helping others get their traffic rolling to a new website.

Here are a few of the common problems that seem to pop up over and over...

  • You quit before it had a chance
  • You did not do enough of the procedure or strategy to get the desired results
  • You did not implement all of the steps required - often deciding this step doesn't apply to your website
  • You relied solely on paid methods from Google, and got suspended with no back traffic source
  • You tried to do too many methods at once so none of them worked well
  • You keep chasing "secret loopholes" and magic "push button" methods
  • You didn't do good keyword research
  • You tried advanced methods without having any of the basics properly in place
These are just some of the things that prevent you and others from having success with your targeted traffic generation.

Do you have other mistakes or mis-steps for people to avoid in the new year? Let's share them here....

Thanks

Yes. To answer your last question. Mistakes or mis-steps.

How does a person know when his website is not getting traffic?

Because he does not have an optin form and because he has not imbedded google analytics into his webpage.

Avoid procrastination. Putting a project off till another day.

Also not deleting all unnecesssary emails. Information overload. Wasting Time.

Excellent. Your so right. Many people don't know if the method is bringing good traffic or not because they aren't tracking it.

      Always track your traffic.

I use different landing pages for each source of traffic.

Valid point regarding monitoring and tracking everything you are doing to attract traffic to your website! I have found that the following tracking tools are pretty effective:

        - stat counter
        - google analytics
        - crazy egg

Most are free with the option to upgrade as well!

        Cheers,
        Adil

Thanks Adil. I have used two of the three. Here's what I found...

None of them is totally accurate, though the trends they show are consistent. To deal with this, I actually try to use more than one method to track results.

          Great recommendations.
