Hi Warriors,

I have noticed lately that in my Clickbank affiliate account it often shows a higher number in the "order form submit" field than the number of sales actually registered and getting commission for. What are some reasons why this might happen? Does a customer submit the form and then their card doesn't go through, or something like that? Just curious if anyone knows other reasons.

thanks!

Beth

This is normal. May be some visitors click on the submit button without filling the form, just to check whether they can get the product for free...silly people..

Hi Beth, I think this is about the seventh or eighth thread raising this matter over the last 2 weeks. (That's not a complaint! I'm just saying that it appears to be a very big issue just at the moment, as it occasionally is for a while, with some people getting huge numbers of order-form submits and no sales recorded. This sometimes happens. Reading those other recent threads will help you - there are good advice and observations in them. You might try putting "submits" or "submissions" into the search function? Not always easy to find what you want around here!).

Clickbank's sister company specializes in preventing online fraud. If the Clickbank Order Form thinks the order is fraudulent or the same credit card has requested refunds from Clickbank in the past... the message reads: "Your order cannot be completed at this time."

I would say sales vs. submits is probably 3 to 1. 66% of the time, the sale will usually go through. If lower than 66%, you might be in a niche that has a high fraud rate.

Call me pedantic, but 66% of the time sounds like 2 to 1, to me. 75% of the time would be 3 to 1.

At the moment, there are people with 20 - 30 order form submits without one sale. There's a problem there, as occasionally happens. I'm just saying.

There are so many extraneous variables at work here that I don't think it can necessarily be narrowed down to any single variable, for example, I have seen sales letters where the price is not listed on the sales page forcing people to click the order button to find out the price.

Not to mention you will lose people on the order page anyway for whatever strange reason, maybe it loaded to slow and the person was in a hurry etc.

Sure; there can be all sorts of reasons for these things, but they're continual/regular ones. But when everything grumbles along quietly for many months, and then suddenly, out of the blue, there are 7 or 8 threads started here about this exact point, all close together, all telling the same story, then there's a new and specific reason for it, you know? Just call me "Sherlock" ...

Thanks all! One reason I'm asking this right now is that for one particular product I have always been seeing this happen, and I had assumed it was related to that product. But just lately I'm seeing it more often, and for other products. Just makes me wonder if it's something new...

I am suspecting fraud on some CB products... there is one specific product that I promote that makes no sales at all for like 2000 hops... then I enter a period where that product starts to sell with crazy high conversions. After a couple of sales, it dies down again.

Neither I nor the vendor has any opt-in forms so it can't be due to emails and such. This is a popular product and I am really suspicious.
