hello all,

i am working on an update for my plugin (Quick Site Setup) for wordpress.

i wont go on about the plugin too much, if you want more info ljust go to the wso in my sig.

anyway the plugin is there to reduce the amount of tasks you need to do to setup a site (and maintain it) right now it can build "contact/privacy policy/terms and cons/sitemap" pages.

many users have requested a disclaimer added to this list of pages it can build, which is understandable and i cant see why i didnt think of this before.

anyway, i would like your advise on disclaimers.

terms and cons and privacy templates are plentyfull on the web and information about them is also.

but i cannot find anything that helps me look through what is required?, are there different types?, are there any pre requisites? etc???

right now i have found one from a uk .gov site that goes like this:

would this be suitable for all types of internet marketing? will it work internationally?

You may consider multiple generic disclaimers that can be chosen at install. Searching for type specific disclaimers may give you better search results. Often a disclaimer can be found at the bottom of the page.

The type of disclaimer needed depends on the type of website and products offered. The above disclaimer may work fine for some things, but not all. It wouldn't work for a physical health product for example. Then there are affiliate disclaimers, separating the affiliate from the product owner, whether the product is tangible or intangible.

The more generic and the broader the language is probably the best.

You may also want a disclaimer for your disclaimers, lol. Since there really is not one size that fits all, you may want to point that out so your customers can make their own tweaks to their disclaimer.

Additionally, it never hurts to run whatever you come up with by real legal counsel.

thanks for the advice, i was thinking the same about having multiple versions, and never thought about adding a disclaimer to the plugin, i probably should.

Hadn't seen a need for a disclaimer generator to date. Doesn't mean I won't at some point.

All the best on your project.
