Best Way To Deliver Video?

Hey Warriors.

I'll be selling some videos that buyer can download it.

What's the best format to deliver an instructional video?

I have an experience once from a seller that I have to update my codecs just to see the video that I bought.

Is a flash video a safe format?

Thanks!

    Hi Jon,

The best downloadable formats to deliver in are wmv (windows media) or mov and mp4 encoded with the h.264 codec (quicktime player).

Of course you can deliver in flash .flv or .swf format as well but you will need to supply your client with a desktop player that supports flash playback. You could suggest they use this:

    Hi Josh.

For flash, what's the desktop player for? Isn't most browsers supports flash?

My plan is to send them flash with html files inlcuded so they can just click on the index.html file.

    Thanks!

Well you may run into a few problems. Depending on how the flash is embedded (plain html vs javascript) people opening the html page may see a warning and have the content blocked.

For the most part that would work...

But if the videos are .flv you will also have to use a player to embed them in the html page. So you will be delivering your clients a pile of files and undoubtedly you will also confuse your clients.

If the html page does not contain extra integral content you would be far better off just delivering the video files unless you are going to have one html page with multi track player in it etc.
