Video that interacts with sales pages... killer creative examples

Sometimes our clients send us some pretty cool examples of ways that they use our technology on their websites.

In IM so many people talk about video sales letters and for years I have had a vision of what video sales letters can be if the technology were only more powerful...

These examples are not the "best" but they are very creative and I wanted to share them because this kind of creative vision is so rare in most of our IM discussions and I thought some of you might enjoy them:

1. Check out the beating heart video loop top right.... click it to trigger another which triggers another:

https://www.vampfangs.com/ProductDet...ode=SKMETGREEN

Also check out the wild video effect they do on the main page:

https://www.vampfangs.com/ (warning may be upsetting to small children)

2. Several chained videos interacting with the web page:

Janasko Insurance

Only testing will reveal if specific presentations boost response but there are so many variations and possibilities that I am sure that the right combination of effects, optins, calls to action etc using interactive presentations can have a huge impact on response and conversion.

That second one is the best use of "walk on" video I've ever seen. Beats the hell out of the business-type actor that walks on and starts talking about their awesome product.

Also consider that video has a "check this out" appeal that may get people to send their friends to the site just to see the video...

I call it "wow" factor. It does not work in every niche... but I have effectively used "wow" factor to generate a ton of word of mouth and referral traffic where people post about my site telling people to check out an effect.

        Josh,

How much does that kind of video slow down page loading?

I have a pretty fast broadband connection and the page took 29 seconds to load.

          It depends...

If you are an optimization expert you can make ANY video load in as little as 1 second.

So there is no generalization. It all depends on the publisher and whether they understand and implement optimization.

For example I teach that ANYONE who uses these type of effects should take special care to optimize the video encoding so that the video is under 256kbps which is the average slowest broadband speed in rural US.

If you optimize your video bit rate to be lower than the bit rate of your slowest average visitor then you can set your buffer and load time to as little as 1 second. My rule of thumb is setting it to 3 seconds or less.

By using videos that are small dimensions you can get away with encoding at lower bit rates...

My most successful "wow" factor video is encoded at a miraculous 72kbps total! The site it is on has generated almost a half million in $27 and $37 sales (not counting back end purchases) and has converted at an average of 7%+ for three years.

Many factors such as fluxuations in your connection, whether you are on a shared Cable network, etc. and where the publisher is hosting the video can also effect load times.

I do not experience the delay that you describe on those examples...

But then I have not checked to see if they employ the optimization principles that are so important.

In fact Optimization is the one principle that ANYONE can use on ANY video to instantly boost response and conversion rates regardless of content.

Just like back in the days of dialup where image optimization was taught in colleges, website and video optimization is integral to boosting direct response results.

Besides bit rate optimization you can also optimize delivery by hosting on many of the top tier CDNs.

I see the BlueFarts are back... did you do that to your signature on purpose or is there a new word replace in the forum now?

It used to be "guru" that triggered a BlueFart but "guru blocker" does not sound like what your sig would have said ;-)

If I remember correctly Blue Fart now replaces B.l.a.c.k. H.a.t.

Yeah, this bluefart thing is kind of lame, they should just let us use the real word.

Oh so you're a BH guru ? I know quite a few on the scene but I no longer participate in that

    Josh,
Absolutely love the second example in your original post. How the female vampire appeared and the special effects they use is pretty amazing. If those aren't the best I'd be interested in seeing what you consider top notch quality.

    Respectfully,
    Tim

If you're looking for video that interacts with the page, the best example I have ever seen is right on Youtube:

Yep, the youtube interactive features are cool...

However, you cannot do them on your own website. They only work on Youtube.

You guys want to see something cool I bought on Clickbank yesterday? Its called sales letter creator its on topic and no I am not an affiliate. You can create a professional sales page in 15 minutes is what they claim but more like a couple hours to do it right. You can even add Youtube videos. It was only $17 bucks I am loving it so far.

I like all the cool stuff that can be done with YouTube, but you can't do the super cool stuff like this unless you have gobs of money to throw at them.

That is what I like about these video effects... these are people we taught how to do it, provided the technology, and who are now doing it themselves saving thousands of dollars in production costs...

Plus its a little more personable when its not just a hired actress in a skirt suit or some stuffy corporate type... those have their place but the personalized and creative elements are far more powerful.

You just don't get the same "wow" factor with a canned actor.
