Apple iPad/iPhone and Video...How Do You Implement?

Hello all you video experts out there!

I have to say, I've had my Apple iPad for about a month now and I'm hardly ever at my PC and/or notebook. I also find myself able to read more crap IM e-mail sales pitches. LOL

Anyway, here's what's killing me. iPad does not support flash video so when I try to view these 30 min. video sales letters they obviously won't load. Of course I tell myself I'll go watch the video later on the PC but that rarely ever happens.

Is it possible to have your video sales page detect iPad/iPhone and load a video that's not in flash?

There's a lot of iPhones and soon to be iPad's out there. You're losing sales if you ignore this market segment.

    Do not use an html5 video player by default on your website... while it may play on apple mobile products it will not be fully compatible with current versions of IE and certain video codecs are not supported across all browsers.

    The best approach to html5 video is the one we are taking with our technology... sense the apple device and display an alternate video via scripting... or just put a link by your video that points to an html5 version that apple mobile visitors can view as an alternative.

    For our part we have our html5 sensor in beta which we will soon release as a standard feature of our player.

      It won't be bundled with Nanacast but it is compatible with it. Its available at our Transparent Player website as a stand alone right now.

      We are also developing a web based service version of the player to "dumb it down" a little for a more general market. That service is soon to be in beta.

      The html5 video sensor for Apple mobile device compatibility is also live now and available as a function in Transparent Player.

    Never used camtasia, but...

    I took a look at their site and I found this TechSmith | Camtasia Studio, Screen Recorder Software, New Features so it looks like they have included ipad/phone support. M4V for iPad/iPod/iPhone/iTunes

    I currently use JW Player which is a hybrid HTML5 flash player.

    Exporting a video from camtasia in the M4V format and playing it through the JW Player should make your video viewable to just about everybody no-matter what they are using to view your site. Just a guess since I haven't tested this and I've been using the h.264 codec.
