Do you get views from your old articles?

I have 4 year old articles that I still get traffic from. Not as much as the new ones but still traffic which I really like.

Whats the topic of your article?
@Topic, maybe its because the article is very powerful that can attract the viewers to view it. It is not possible to still get topic from your old article as long as it is season or still happening in our daily life. One must not forget that an article must base on the point of view of the majority people

Yes, you will still get views from old articles. Sometimes it will surprize you when even an article you forgot about gets found again. From my experience it is usually keyword optimized articles that still get views. People still often search for the same things they did years ago. There are always keywords and especially long tail keywords that will be in articles just written naturally like you are doing. I think in time you will also occassionally get views on your old articles.

Depends on the topic and whether it is time sensitive.

But, yes, I get views on old articles.

Typically, I get more views, however, on old articles published on my own site as opposed to those published on article directories though.

And the same here.

But my older articles at EZA still get syndicated, which leads to gradually increasing targeted traffic and context-relevant backlinks to my sites. So they're income producers (or, at least, subsequently syndicated copies of them are), even when they're just sitting there with only/mostly webmasters and ezine/newsletter compilers reading them.

I have articles that were written in 2000 and 2002 that not only get read, but generate click-through traffic to my website and sales at my websites.

If you write about evergreen topics, they will produce for you for as long as they have a home on the Internet.

I'd think whether you are still submitting articles could play a factor as that would build internal links to your profile page and thus send some new juice to old articles.

I usually get traffic from answer sites like yahoo answers and answerbag. I haven't gotten much luck with my articles. I just expect to get some good backlinks out of my articles, but thats about it.

Yes.

Some of the articles I've put up on popular directories still get lots ot traffic, especially from search engines.

Just have a good title that's catchy and optimized for your keyword.

Absolutely, I have one article submitted in July of 2007 that averages over 2000 page views a month and another article form the same month (Jul 2007) that averages over 5000 page views a month.

There are many more examples like this but those were the first two articles I looked at in my EZA stats.

If you put the research into keywords, you'll get better results, with articles always remember it's about quality versus quantity.

I have 69 articles in EZA and in 3 years they have received over 1 million views.

Just do some link building to your best articles...pump them up in the search engines...and they will continue to send a good amount of traffic each month.

Some people recommend writing tons of articles. I believe a better strategy is to write fewer, but high quality articles and spend some time linking them...to make them a permanent fixture in the search engines.

For me my articles get still lots of traffic for the long tail keywords. which is why picking good keywords is a must when you're writing your articles.

One of my oldest articles on EZA still gets excellent traffic to it. Age is certainly not a problem. It gets great clickthroughs to my site also.

I use it as an example for myself. Recognizing that an old article was outperforming so many new ones got me thinking about why that one does so well. Good keyword use, informative article, and the resource box leads people to where they can get more information.

I know I can't match the performance every time, but it was a good reminder of the things I should focus on in writing articles for distribution.

Short answer - YES.
long answer - it's for two reasons, one because it was well written for the keyword i was targeting but two, every once in a while i do some link building to it.. something i'd suggest everyone does who has old articles... it takes practically no time + compared to other (equally popular articles), the one's that i'll ocassionally revisit do much better
