any ideas on how I can create a zip code site?

I bought a domain a while ago and just checked it now using the Google keyword tool.

The domain is ZipOf.com

According to the Google tool that phrase gets searched over 200,000 times a month! I thought the domain sounded good when I got it at the registrar for $7.00 but wasn't thinking it would be searched that much. So, now I'm thinking I should make one of those sites where you look up zip codes.

Any ideas on how to do this or who can do this?

You should be able to outsource this at elance.com or rentacoder.com, you might also want to check out 1999 U.S. Postal Service ZIP Codes

Not to burst your bubble... but check the keyword again with exact match.
Broad Match with that keyword includes Zip of 90210, zip of 90409, zip of beverly hills, etc...

When I search, I use keywords like "beverly hills zip code"...

    ...hope that helps you some.

The google keyword tool shows all the other top results along with ZIP OF. Like "zip code of london", "zip code of la". etc...

There's a script out there ( a couple actually and I can't remember their names) anyway they create a my sql data base to call up the post codes. For memory the cheapest was about $30 and up to $300.

    Hey Tim,

Depending on what you want the site/script to do, you can go to ScriptLance.com Custom Freelance Programming. Outsource web projects to programmers and designers. and hire someone there. Just be specific about exactly what you want it to do.

One great tip for marketing software and having it developed is to draw up a diagram for the programmers to see. If you have photoshop or different graphics program like www.freetoolsandtips.com/xara you can give them the "look" of the software and it will give a more valuable perception.

For an example of a script I had done this way (*free for warriors) go to Keyword Secretary.

    Good luck!

Forgot to say... with the scripts they are country specific so if you want just US you buy that script, if you want UK as well you need to buy that as well. Wouldn't be any good buying Aus we call it a postcode not a zip

    Tim,

That domain is an awesome pickup. I think you will do really well with it. Good luck with finding a script for zip code
lookup. Let us know how it goes.

Once you get that website running, you could have advertisements running specific to each zip code that your visitor enters. For example if they enter a Beverly Hills zip code, then an advertisement for all things Beverly Hills should show up.

    Good luck with the site.

Thanks Jeff. Yeh, I was thinking at first that it wasn't a very lucrative niche, but I think it can be with enough traffic.

Just goes to show you with domains, there's plenty of good ones available. I just found a dot net domain today that's phrase gets searched 1,220,000 times a month. It's only 7 letters also. Then I found another short dot info that gets searched 2,240,000 times a month.
