Another n00b question: Analyzing Market Samurai Results

3 replies
Forgive me if this is in the wrong section, but i couldn't find a more specific forum to put this in.

I'm doing research on a niche and have focused on two different, but similar keywords. Ran them through market samurai and am currently trying to analyze the results.

I've attached the 2 spreadsheets from MArket Samurai in XLS form (w/domains excluded)

From what i've read and currently know about keyword research, it appears that I have a better shot at ranking on the first page of google in example 1, vice example 2. My reasoning for this is because of the low number of external backlinks (column G), low pank rankings and 'N' across the board.

It seems that i would have a harder time against domains example 2 because of the high number of external backlinks pointing to the specific pages.

Am i reading/analyzing my results correctly?
do you need more data to go along with this, such as the results of the keyword search?

I can tell you that the keyword search that corresponds to example 1 was minimal... i.e., there wasn't any data.

the keyword search that corresponds to example 2 are as follows:

SEOT = 307
PBR = 82%
SEOC = 111,000 (high, i know)
AWCPC = $.96
AWV = $.96
SEOV = #294.28

hopefully this is enough data for you to help me. every time i look at the data, part of me thinks that im analyzing the data wrong. hopefully im on the right track and if not, someone can point me in the right direction

also, which one would you go with, and why?

Thanks again!

    What you are thinking is possible, but many of the domains in example 1 are older and that may be an issue. Sometimes it is and sometimes it is not depending on what was on the sites for all those years.

    I suggest most strongly that you go (if you haven't already) an dlook at these websites and see if you think you can make a site that can outrank them.

    I am saying this because I do not know your skill level is in sitebuilding or how much SEO experience you have. What I do know is that no matter what the numbers say, your own brain is always the best decision maker.

    The MS videos make that point a number of times as well.

      Thanks for the response JMichael.

      I'll take your advice and check out the pages i am up against. im a complete newbie to internet marketing and to site building as well. i've built a couple sites using wordpress so im not completely in the dark.

      the only thing that throws me off is the fact that there is no keyword research data for the keyword that corresponds to example 1.

      what does that mean?

      does that mean there is NO TRAFFIC at all and i've hit a brick wall? or....... the keyword is *that bad* that google isn't collecting data?

        You are very welcome. You sound like you are going to do well starting out. it is always a good thing to do some research.

        I am sorry I do not know what it measn to have no results. In my experience with MS, sometimes no data means somethng tiemd out during the data collection phase.

        Perhaps you might run it again and see what happens at a different time of day.

        MS is a good tool but has a history of runing really slowly and timing out so the results you see are indicative of nothing more than the internet runing a bit slowly right at that time. If you have no results and you like the market, I say try it again and see if you get some results.
