Beware of Rogue Marketers

I like to call these individuals Rogue Marketers. In the last two months I've purchased a few products from individuals not affiliated with clickbank or any affiliate network. I have to say that they were great sales copiers, but their products were horrible and if I needed help with something and I never recieved it.

On one occassion this guy had provided four email addresses and all four were used by me to contact him. Guess what? No reply. I emailed one guy about 10 times to discuss a refund because his product was so horrible. I wish I could name this gentlemen here but unfortunately I don't think it's possible for legal reasons.

I just wanted to warn you all to make sure and email anyone not affiliated with an affiliate network before you purchase from a simple paypal link. Establish a friendship with the merchant before making the purchase. If they don't email you back in a day or so, I'd move on. If they're not willing to contact you with your inquirires, they don't deserve to be selling online. Sometimes these marketers provide a FAQ section, but I'd go further and email them just for the sake of it.

I know this sounds like common sense but we have all fallen prey to great sales copy that promises all the right things but leaves us with an empty bag and no way to get our money back.

Just because someone is affiliated with an affiliate network doesn't mean that you're guaranteed service or a quality product - let's face it, anyone can get good copy and still deliver nothing of value after you purchase their product. The fact of the matter is that the buyer should always be wary - and it saddens me that most of us Warriors aren't smarter than that. They've written their own sales pages, they've seen some of the best copy around, they've learned all about how to make a hot sales page, and then they go out and sucked into a poor product after falling for a sales page. I suppose it's like cops who steal evidence from the lockup - they know exactly why they shouldn't do it, but they think they can still score big and fall prey to the temptation.

You're going to have problems with sellers on affiliate networks as you would with sellers not on affiliate networks. If you wish to avoid sellers that don't want or need to participate in an affiliate network, that's your choice, but you may be missing out on some information gold out there.

It's unfortunate that you had a problem with some sellers, but that's no reason to cast aspersions on the whole lot of non-affiliated sellers.

Other than that, you're right that we should be careful about who we purchase from. We should do our own due diligence in checking out products--and reading the sales copy carefully--before clicking the "BUY" button. But, that's something we should do regardless of whether the seller is in an affiliate network.

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

First off, I am guessing that you have not purchased very many Clickbank products... Or else, you would realize that Clickbank does not review the quality of the submission before approval...

The only checks that Clickbank does in advance is to review the sales copy, to make sure they will not get in trouble with the Feds.

Second, the quality of the merchant can never be determined based on who he associates or doesn't associate.

Have you ever heard of "Buyer Beware"...

    Buyer Be Aware...

No product is guaranteed to be a grand slam, unless the seller offers a product guarantee...

Buy from merchants who offer money-back guarantees, and then you will be guaranteed that you can get your money back if the product is crap.

Smearing the reputation of thousands of merchants, because they don't fit into that little box you designed for them, is simply not right for you to do.

I might be offended at your comments, if I thought you were someone with any credibility.

But since I perceive you differently than that, it is water off my back.

    Be Aware of me,

    I Am A Rogue Marketer

      (5) No Affiliate Links Allowed - Promote Your Own Domain/s Only. It's either this or we have to cut out sig files altogether which we do not want to do.

      (6) Anyone Caught Promoting The Same Site/Offer Will Be Deleted. Program owners are telling their members to come here and make posts to promote their offer in their sig files. This has caused tons of useless messages to be posted and it is clogging up the forum. Anyone caught doing this will have to be removed. This is not an ad forum - it is a discussion forum.

Edit: We have no problem with someone pointing to their WSO within their sig.

Edit: Due to certain people trying to find a loophole I needed to add yet another edit. Please do not try to get around these rules by getting your own domain name and simply redirecting it to an affiliate program. You Will Be Removed From Here When Caught.

If you want to promote an affiliate program do it on your own domain. Your own web site. Not a "pre-made" web site. Your own web site, a real one. Then put THAT web site in your sig file.

I'm a rogue marketer, on the wrong side of my chair. Hunting down those people online, who don't know better. I troll them.

And this summer, I'm going to get my vengeance, on the man who sold me the product that never did anything because it was the same thing I bought last week from someone else and it was even crappier than the one I bought before it.

Law? There is no law, only my one-sided justice.
