What web hosting site could I use for a blog?

Hey guys,

I want to start a blog with the goal of earning money through advertising.

Does anyone know of any good blogs that will let me have a blog for free and be able to put ads on it?

Thanks

Buy a domain name for something like $10 and hosting is something you could get for about $90 for the whole year with Bluehost. You can pay quarterly (or maybe even monthly ... not sure) if you're squeezed monetarily. So much better than trying to build a business on something you don't own - and that's not getting into all the factors of a place like Blogger taking your blog down for any number of reasons. But unless you're a completely unethical imbecile, that isn't likely to happen because I am sure you would read and abide by the terms of service of any free-hosted site you plan to use.

Wordpress.com might shut you down fairly quickly if you try to put ads on their platform. Don't go that route. You can read about that in their terms of service.
Would I get shutdown on wordpress if I added advertisments on my blog?

Almost universally, anything that's "free" has limitations.

Also, hosting on somedomain.com is building backlinks for THAT domain, not YOUR domain. So if you set up a blog on some free hosted site like blogger.com and they shut you down, you've just lost everything! At least if you've got your own domain and hosting, you'll be able to move the hosting somewhere else and benefit from the link juice building up on your domain(s).

That said, you're not likely to make money from just one blog. Several is better.

HostGator is one of the few hosts that will bill you monthly on cheap accounts, so don't rule them out. They'll give you the first domain name free as long as you keep your account active.

I would strongly recommend using wordpress because it's more advance in terms of editing your blog and before putting ads please read there Terms of service to avoid inconvenience after.

I would strongly recommend that if you have your own website already, or plan to get one anytime soon, host your blog there. That way any backlinks will come to your site, and you can advertise and post on the same site if you get into affiliate marketing. It's "free" in that you aren't paying any money in addition to the money you are already spending for your domain/hosting.

But if you aren't planning to have your own site, I'd agree with others that Blogger is a good way to go.
