Hi All,

I tried to upload a sales page to my website but it didn't work and I don't know why - please help.

I have an addon domain with Fantastico installed.

I don't want the sales page to be my main page so within the FTP I created a new directory under my sub/addon domain and uploaded the sales page which is called index.html but I can't see the page on my domain...

Is there a conflict between Fantastico and uploading pages through an FTP or have I done something else wrong?

Please help this hapless would be warrior, grrrrr.

Fantastico has nothing to do with your sales page issues. If you could give us more details about the location of your index.html for the sales page, we'll be able to better figure out what is going on here?

So your sales page should be at yourdomain.com/directoryname?

Like the other guys have said, your sales page has nothing to do with Fantastico. It simply installs wp so you don't have to bother creating databases and uploading wp via ftp.

If you have created another directory (separate from the one where wp is installed) and uploaded your sales page then it should show up when you navigate to that directory.

    I'm using FileZilla

    Remote site/public_html/www.stuart-stephen.com
Within this directory I created a new file/directory called prod1
    Within prod1 I have uploaded the file/sales page index.html

Clicking on the prod1 folder within the remote site I see:
    Folder image..
    index.html

    Thanks

      Stuart,

I think the problem may be because of the Wordpress blog you created in your domain name. I think it's in the .htaccess file which redirects subdirectories to the main blog.

I'm not a Wordpress expert but I have lots of experience in using it. When you create a folder/directory within a Wordpress blog and that folder doesn't have an index file, that folder will show your Wordpress blog (most likely a Page Not Found notification).

So make sure that you have uploaded the index.html file to that folder. Then try accessing it again through your browser.

I received a 'the page you are looking for cannot be found' message but I have uploaded the index.html file to this directory, not sure what to try now but thanks for your help.

ok call me silly if you like

If I type in my domain + directory I created I can see my sales page I uploaded but (and this is the part where I may be silly) I cannot see the page in my wp-admin site - for some reason I expected too....

Please confirm these 2 facts are correct:
              1. I will not be able to see the page through wp-admin
              2. I am silly

              Thanks

If the page was not created via your wp-admin panel then you won't see it there. You can link to your html page by using the WordPress › Page Links To « WordPress Plugins This plugin allows you to make a WordPress page or post link to a URL of your choosing, instead of its WordPress page or post URL. You can then edit that page via FileZilla or any html editor.

Since this is a static HTML page that was not implemented/installed via Wordpress, you'll not see it show up in your Wordpress control panel. Like I said earlier, static HTML pages have nothing to do with Wordpress - you can install both on the same domain, but you'll have to access them separately as they're individual entities that are apart from one another.

The only pages that will show up in your wordpress admin section are the pages you create in wordpress. You can have as many static html pages in addition to this as you like but none of them will show in your wordpress admin.
