Hey all,

I have 2 questions regarding Pamela (recording software for Skype):

1. I know you can record Skype to Skype calls, but can I record if I call someone's phone?

2. A couple of weeks ago I did some testing and the recording had an echo. I used my headphones but the problem was still there. Did/does anybody else have this problem?

Thanks

Brandon

    Hi Brandon,

Yep, I record calls all the time from Skype. Used to use Pamela, but last year switched over to PowerGramo (it records the two sides of the calls on separate tracks for cleaner sound editing).

With Skype you can record any call you can make - doesn't matter whether it's to a landline phone or to another computer.

However, the quality does vary... a lot. I've had calls where the quality was better than my regular phone, and others where line noise, buzzing, echoing, and other problems made the recording unusable. Most of the time, though, it's not bad even though I'm calling on trans-Pacific lines.

All in all, it's a good, economical way to record interviews, teleseminars and conference calls, and I wouldn't want to be without it.

Cheers from warm and smiling Thailand,
    Charles
