How has the "global recession" impacted your online business?

...if at all...

Personally I've noticed my conversions are down across
the board.

I'd imagine that a recession + Christmas would equate to
a drop in sales due to consumers holding onto their money
for the holidays; not to mention an already strained budget
because of this damn recession.

I'd like to hear other peoples experiences over the past
few months.

Note: I'm talking more about conversion rate then sales,
as there are many ways to boost sales (ie. lots more traffic).

I'd consider raw conversion rate a much more accurate
representation.

Regards,
Matt

NO, It's helped me. In fact, business has picked up since everything got tighter. But, I'm the marketing business and people want to promote their products / services more to compensate for the slow economy.

    My experiences so far are...

My financial advice and recession oriented niche sites are doing well.

Some eBay affiliate sites are down while others are up. Discounts, deals, inexpensive are the keywords people are looking for.

More people are looking into making money online as a supplemental or full-time income.

Not the Internet Marketing niche. Too many to
      name them all actually.

I would imagine if you positioned yourself correctly
you could make quite a bit of money in the IM niche
      at this time.

"Recession Proof Your Online Business" or something
      to that effect.

This economy changes has only affected me in favorable and positive ways.
I'm on the self-help field as many of you are, and people (and myself!) needs faith and focus-power to find creative paths of action to survive.

I have a gut feeling that this is an expansion of the economy.

My opt-ins are increasing as we speak. I've converted my business in the last few months to a new model, so it's like comparing apples to oranges, but sales are still as good or better as they were.

Since my business is teaching people how to make money online, I expect all the new leads to pay off well down the line.

The impressions on my top performing Adwords campaign has dropped noticeably (health/beauty niche), but conversion rates are the same.

I am also seeing an increase in people filing Paypal disputes and claiming that they never got their item.

How the recession impacts is who you sell to. Where the hell is the money when the world financial system is going through tumoil? -- It's in the rich men's hand. Simple as that.

Sell to the rich. They're now riding on buying spree... having cavier and wine at home... while others are struggling to put bread and butter on the table.

Attack the golf market. No, sell to the rich who want premium golf products.

Sell to the pet market. No! to the rich pet lovers who want first class service.

The majority poor is making the minority rich... RICH. It's an inverted pyramid structure. So sell to the rich and topple it!

When they said there was a global slow down, I decided to not participate.

The Mythical "They" has no idea about, me, my products, my services or my clients.

Expect failure you will surely find it.

Expect success you will surely find it.

    Slow Down ?

    Nope not even close ~!

      Exactly!

It's just a negative illusion of the mind. I'm glad you know it.

Such illusion creates the turmoil. Sadly, most people hate to admit it.

Whenever a person gives away the mind, he or she will be toyed and slaughtered like cow.

Bear, bull, cycle... is just a complete bull****. Just old rehashed excuse

Disastrous compared to the beginning of this year. I still make a dream income but its chump change compared to now.

Of course, in a global recession, you would surely expect the 'how to make more money' niches to explode...

    Pure common sence
