How to improve my income?

Hello warriors,
I have got a wepage ranked always withi the top 10 results @ google. The monthly search volume according to google is about 550.000 and I have round about 100 visitors a day.
But I am making almost no money. I earn maybe 3-5$ a MONTH using adsense.
The page is about a show which runs once a year for several weeks and during this time the amount is maybe twice as high and so are the visitors but I think it isn't worth it.
That's why I stopped writing articles there...
The page is about 5 years old and it's pagerank is 3.

Do you have any tips on how to improve my income?

I would really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance

Perhaps your ads are not very easily accessible/visible? You can have a thousand visitors a day and not see any click throughs because your links are poorly placed. Just a thought.

You should easily be able to make 3 to $5 a day with that amount of traffic.

Hi and first of all, thanks for ur answer!
Unfortunately not, my ads are both visible "on the first spot" - means no scralling neccessary...

I hav got 2 adsense blocks on my page. The first one is just above the first article and the second one is on the right side aboe the naigation.
The first ad is a text-only-ad (468x60) with a CTR of 0,42% on 28.000 impressions.
The second one is a text and image ad with a CTR of 0,40% on 28.000 impressions.

I have got absolutely no idea what to change and appreciate any adices

    Great thanks

if you're getting low payout per click then, maybe it's just a bad niche for adsense. I'd say it's time to cut your losses and move on to another niche.

If you're planning on using adsense in the future, do some keyword research first to find out which topics have high enough cpc before starting on a new website

There are 2 major questions that I can think off the top of my mind:

    1. Is the 550,000 search volume exact or broad?
    2. What is your exact rank?

If you're not ranking in the top 5, try sending some backlinks and see if moves up. There is a significant difference in traffic between something that is #9 versus something that is #2 (or #1).

As some else rightly mentioned, maybe tweak your ad placement a bit, too.

Best of luck and a very happy New Year!

First of all: Thanks for ur answers.

My current ranking position is 6 and according to Googles Keyword Tool the search volume for my country and my language (not english) is exactly 550.000.

First I'll try to add some backlinks to my page to improve the traffic and the next step is to change the ad colors. At the moment it is in the same color like the articles. I'll try to highlight it a bit (what I exactly tried not to in the beginning...)

Best regards and of course a happy new year

  • Hmmm... I think it's most likely your traffic isn't the "ad clicker" crowd, based on what you mentioned about your website, its SE rankings for your target keyword/s, ad placements you did, its X daily visitors and X% CTRs for X impressions... You could improve your profits from your website by:
...setting up a mailing list subscription box...
...telling would-be mailing list subscribers that you provide regular free content like your collection of user reviews about the top 10 audio books or movies or shows under categories and sub categories similar to the show you mentioned as well as constant updates about your lookouts for great media similar to the show...
...also tell them your mailing list subscribers are automatically participants of your regular monthly contests, prizes include show-related accessories like shirts, caps, hats, socks, whatever...
...then, promote both on your site pages and mailing list affiliate products relevant to topics covered by the show like show-related accessories, DVDs of movies/TV shows/audio books/ebooks in the category and sub categories similar to the show, which they can buy via your affiliate links...
There are other ways which could possibly increase your income, like building another website about another show with a set of keywords getting the same search volume, then doing the same thing you did on your new site, and since you're earning $3-5/month from your 1st site, build 10 sites about 10 shows and possibly improve your income from each of those sites by implementing the things I mentioned above along with other ways you can find...

Wow. 3-5 dollars per month was awesome, it is a good start but i have a suggestion that you must put your link on the visible areas where the viewer will click yours ads and this is the time that your earning will increase! Have a nice day
