CONGRATULATIONS! You've made a sale.

...Admittedly, I'm on too many email lists. However, when an IMer sends me an email with this in the subject box (received yesterday), the only result will be my unsubscribing from their list.

I am one of those Affiliate Marketers who opts to get the "New Commission" emails sent to them (because they make me happy) for the many different things that I have my hand in - and this really ticks me off.

Also yesterday, and email from "Support", titled "...You made a sale!"

Ok, so both both subject lines had their intended effect - in that I opened the emails. However, I didn't even look at what they were about but scrolled right to the bottom and unsubscribed.

If you're using this one, you may want to keep some stats and see if it's backfiring on you. I wasn't very amused.

I only got 2 of those recent.

Both of them lead to me unsubscribing.

Unfortunately these seem to be more and more common....I've also had to unsubscribe from a few lists as a result of pretty unimpressive subject lines!

      Yep, me too!

I also tend to unsubscribe from anything that repeatedly mentions - ninja, underground, secret tactics, press button, atm....

The marketers don't realise they are losing subscribers with this subject line.

Seems like popular email subject lines come in cycles. I don't personally like this one, but it is certainly the sender's right to use it.

Like the OP says, it is always a good idea to check your stats to see how many people unsubscribe after a mailing.

Truth is, though, that peopl eunsubscribe because you did not mail enough, they unsubscribe becasue you mailed too much, they unsubscribe becasue it's Tuesday or becasue they have had a fight with their significant other.

The only real measure of the effectiveness of a subject line is if it gets you the result you desired. If it does, do that more often, if it does not, stop doing that.

It seems to be the latest marketing fad. Wonder what Guru is promoting it?

This is sure to hurt many marketers who use the tactic... no one likes to be disappointed when it comes to receiving money.

I agree with the OP. I would be extremely disappointed to open that email and find that it's a pitch for something. Hey, I'm looking for my money - I don't want to be let down.

    I would also unsubscribe.

I guess some IMers are seriously overdoing things eh? Catchy titles are fine, but not to THAT extent, its only gona piss people off. I would unsubscribe too if I saw similar types of headlines

dang - ton of responses really fast. nice to know I'm not alone. I get a lot of emails and most of Subject line tactics I find either: educational or amusing.

this is a rare one that really got me worked up enough to post about it.

This is what's been showing up lately and yes that black thingy is in front
      of them all.

I spent a lot of time getting off these lists.
