Could you double your income with this info?

I have a review site and have been working on improving it the last few days.

Two areas stood out

1. I went to clickbank and pulled up sales stats for the last year. It became very clear after rotating offers off and on that one outsells another, even when I post the offers at the top of each page. (php include)

One offer has double, sometimes more sales than the other offer I was currently highlighting for months. Why oh why did I not think of checking a year of stats before?

2. Sign up Aweber forms - I have blogs pointing to the site, that share the same form, an index light box and an inline form for the rest of the pages. Each has a different look.

I compared different forms and the colors of the forms and changed all to the highest converting form and color. I also took off the part where they fill in their name, in the hope of more signing up.

On the index page, I took the form from the right hand column and put it on the middle section and put arrows pointing to it. I am going to do an email a day for 10 days, then everyother day for 9 days. So I really want those sign ups.

So I will see what changes that makes, but obviously my sales should increase, just by featuring the better offer.

You might want to check your stats and see what they are telling you. Split test works, especially when you go back to see the results. lol

It is a really good thing that you didn't wait two years.

All fooling around aside, this is some of the best kind of research a person can do to help their business.

I spend a lot of time writing and some of the best converting articels and pages have come from looking at my keyword stats.

Thank you very much for sharing your process and your results.

I agree, stats can tell a person so much, and to be able to compare a number of months is quite valuable.

Site statistics and affiliate statistics is one of those essentials that I believe tons of people simply overlook.

Or another problem is many will setup the tracking, but never do anything with the data they collect.

They just enjoy looking at their analytics screen once in a while to see all those nice graphic spikes to their websites and feeling important.

    Jeannie,

Shhhh, don't spill the beans! How are we going to be able to keep selling newbies more "systems" to make money overnight when they realize they can easily build their own and make even more money simply by learning how to optimize their process with tracking and feedback implementation?

On a more serious note, it's the one piece of advice I've been throwing around in all my coaching at every opportunity I've had for the last year.

I'm doing something similar by studying my best performing sites in order to determine why they are doing so much better. One thing I've been testing is various price points for products.

I have one product where I dropped the price from $17 to $9.95 and sales immediately went up easily covering the loss from the drop in price.

Once I settle on the price with the best conversion factors I'll go back and work on increasing traffic to the site and increasing conversions from the traffic that arrives.

    Respectfully,
    Tim

Tim, I saw your post in another thread about dropping the price. I am glad to hear that worked out for you. You never know till you test, right?

        Yes ma'am....it worked out nicely.

I'm in the process of doing it to several more products and than once those sales increase I may start to slowly creep the price back up just a bit because these particular products aren't garbage but I do feel that they will sell much better at lower price points below the standard $37 and $47 prices that seem to be the norm.

Tim, another thing to test out is trial offers.

Sometimes you'll find out that a $47 tag is a sales detterent, but the customers don't actually mind paying the price for what they get. It's just that at - THAT - time, they can't justify the amount on an impulse buy.

If you notice that a 9.95$ or whatever price boosts your conversions, I would test a different offer with a 9.95$ trial (try both 15 days and 30 day periods) where they are billed the rest at the end of the trial. Sometimes it's all it takes to get them to take the first step and enter your sales funnel.

          Alex.

Great point and I appreciate you pointing that out to me. It is definately something I'll consider on a product by product basis.

Tracking and testing is one of the simplest ways to improve conversions (and therefore sales) without having to spend any additional money on traffic or anything else.

Unfortunately, it is often overlooked because it can be boring continually making small tweaks here and there, and you also have to live with a lot of ambiguity while making changes to your approach, as you'll never really know which is the "right" way to implement things until your split testing yields results one way or the other.

Well even though that is no news to me I must say it is a pretty good way to increase sales and make the best out of your sites. I always check the stats and depending on what I see I make the necessary changes possible to make even more sales and earn much more hahahah:pa. Isn't life sweet.

Doubling your income is a challenge, but tweaking your campaigns is definitely a way you can make more money from the traffic you are currently getting, make sure you note down a increase/decrease in opt-ins/sales/etc.

You should be continually optimizing every facet of your business.

I outlined a way to increase traffic from old articles without doing any extra work really here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...t-no-work.html

There are a ton of ways to optimize your past stuff using new information that you learn along the way.

Many marketers leave tons of loose ends because it's hard to keep up on... but the fact is that it's often a lot less work than churning out new stuff.

I've gone back and updated free reports to include call to action opt-ins, and special offers (didn't do that when i was newer)

I've gone back and changed description boxes on youtube videos making my URL the first thing in the description box (didn't do that when i was newer)

I've changed layouts on pages, adjusted titles, emails, etc. etc. etc.

All of that was quicker, had a larger impact, and was easier than creating yet another article, video, page, etc. etc.

This post is an excellent reminder for people.

I always test the heck out of everything. Too be honest I consider it the most important thing I do. Even when I'm very satisfied with how a project is going I'm still forever trying to figure out ways to get it to work even better.

You simply can't test and track the results enough.

Testing is a big part in this business if you want to be successful. I see so many people who just create blogs and just let them sit there.

Just to get back to this:

Putting the sign up form in the middle of the page did not work. conversion went from one in 34 to 1 in 158. So I have put the form back in the left column.

I do list my articles on the index page, so this could have stopped people from seeing the exact keyword info they were looking for and them clicking through to the article. Or it could be that people are more turned off signing up for things now days. I don't have an exact answer for this.

So it is always test, test, test and see what happens for you.

Agreed. Too many people overlook split testing with their site graphics, sales funnels, sales letters etc. It took me 3 months to get the formula right in a specific niche. And now I'm just replicating it for all my sites in the same niche.
