WSO Listings Starting To Look Like FFA Link Page Listings

It has been a while since I visted the WSO forum.

It is really getting hard to read the title with all the stars and other symbols being thrown around.

I know you want to draw attention to your post but you may be turn off
more people then you are attracting.

Create interesting and meaningful headline and focus on the benefits
and you will get more interested buyers.

Is it just me, or do the symbols make you think hype before you even read the offer?

My 2 cents

There was a big huge thread about this a month or so ago. I don't like it, but the main consensus was that it should be allowed.

    Up to Allen, really.

Yep! Just get to the point and make a Value driven offer that tells the immediate benefits of whatever it is your promoting.

It does catch your immediate attention at first and then you stop and say, "this guy is trying way to hard."

      Know what?

My next to last WSO had a very plain headline (looks wise) and it did over
      500 units.

Don't worry...the cream always rises to the top.

I second that notion. If you are actually adding value to the community, you'll be heard and in the long run this is the best strategy.

But at the same time, people are people. They're attracted to certain words, phrases, and visuals. So, I can't really blame those who are using these tactics. Bottom line: if it works, it works.

    Hey,

Although I agree with the previous comments, I know that there are a lot of newbies here and some of them will be drawn to the visual. Granted, they're not drawn to the offer... but like I said I agree with the previous comments. I'm just saying some people are different and will see it as one more effort to get a sale and may respect that.

It's almost up with there exclamation points vying for our attention. But What I've learned is to separate the funky characters from the offer itself. Some of these crazy looking titles have been some of the best WSO's I've ever purchased.

It would be cool if the WSO posters looked at this thread before writing their title:

    #1 Be Honest.

This in my opinion is the best way to get your point across... let's face it, most of us here are marketers/copywriters to some degree, so if I see a 'salesy' type topic title, trying to 'sell' me on clicking your post? I generally move on...

    #2 Be Specific.

I'm getting tired of the 'Check this out' type of generic post titles... it's just wasting precious time... and I rarely click on a thread that has a generic 'hey click here' type of title.

Simply let others know what your topic is about, and you will get more views. (yes, I know you can hover over the topic, and get a snapshot of the first sentence or two, but usually this doesn't help)

#3 If you are asking a question, ask the question in your title!!!

Don't make your post title look like you are posting the answer... here's what I mean by this:

    Best way to do xyz....

    vs.

What's the best way to do xyz...?

Whenever I click on a Best way to do xyz, and I see that the OP is actually asking the same question that they are implying that they know the answer to, I think to myself, what a waste of time... I'm never looking at so-and-so's post's again... they are just trying to trick me into clicking on their posts... and not sharing the information that I am looking for.

Hope this helps, and please feel free to elaborate on what you think makes a good WF Thread topic/title.

The stars are fine, but the off the wall ascii characters are a little annoying.

Isn't there a rule on WSO titles somewhere?

Thanks Jared for the "How to Write an Effective WF Thread Title" tip. It'll certainly be useful for me as i plan on coming up with a WSO for my graphic design service any moment from now. Olatunde.

What do you guys think of breaking up the WSO forum into different categories that separate the listings?

I think it would be a bad idea. I like having all the WSO's in one place. Everyone benefits from having anywhere from 400 to 800 people viewing the WSO's at a time.

Take a look at DP. It is split up, and most forums only have about 30 or so people viewing a forum at a time. Wouldn't you much rather have 400+ people viewing your offer, than 30 or so?

    John;

I agree...but on the other end it just makes the better written headlines stand out more.
