Amazon affiliate sale

Hi all

just a quick question here - I get daily reports from amazon but can't seem to see TODAY'S activity which is annoying. my question is - does amazon email you if you get a sale?

my site is new so i'm not expecting sales yet, i just want to know if they alert you when it happens or you have to wait until the next day

thanks

No, they don't email you if you get a sale.

Yes, Amazon updates their stats (at least the ones you can see) every 24 hours, so you will see a one day delay in reporting.

Think about it for a minute...

How many thousand transactions per minute do you think Amazon does? How much would it slow the site down if every one of those transactions had to be scanned for an affiliate code and the sale posted to that database at the same time?

At the scale they operate on, it's far more efficient to update affiliate records using batch processing. Many retailers even batch-process credit card transactions (saving a few pennies per transaction) because it's that much more efficient for the card processor to run in batches rather than real time.

      @AFI...

Jennifer, you'll find that just about every commission sales job in the world starts your quota from zero when a new pay cycle starts.

Amazon, way back in the olden days, used to pay quarterly. The down side was that when you made a sale, you might wait up to four months to get paid. The up side was that if you reached a higher commission level early in the quarter, you could ride it for a couple of months before you had to start over.

I'm so annoyed that you start all over again at 4% every month. I didn't know that.

Usually around 8:30 AM Eastern Time they update your stats with your sales from yesterday. However, there are times when it is delayed.....

Amazon sold 32 Billion dollars of product last year and to have a real time system in place to update everyone in real time sales would be a helluva system, I think their 24 hour system is already impressive.

As for commissions reverting back to 4% each month as mentioned above its no different to any other sales job where you start off a a starting commission and then have targets to hit and when you hit your target commission rate jumps.

If you have never had a sales job before I can understand people not being happy with it.

    kickin it on Amazon

You guys keep mentioning 4% commission but I have to say, I have NEVER received a check for just 4% simply because you only need JUST 6 sales to get 6% then just 30 sales to jump to 6.5%.

So really the number everyone should complaining about is 6.5% since if your getting a check for just 4% (5 sales a month) your just not trying.
