Secure solution for e-book found

Hello . . I just want to let people know I have (with the help of Sam Stevens from DL Guard) found what is to me the perfect secure solution for ebook distribution and non - shareability over the net or between computers

What I did was write 5 books (One proprietary manual and 4 support guides) and I had created them all as pdfs.

Took me 3 months at least to write these and they are top grade. Considering all the hours I put in to them I did not want to simply release them on to the net to find them on some download site etc the next day so I waited until I could find a secure solution

ebookpro from ebookpro.com is AWESOME - you cannot transfer the files between computers!

Really cool - stops ebook file sharing dead in its tracks

Combined with DL Guard as the payment handler, after getting in touch with Sam after reading a thread here on WF he provided me with an addon auto license and password distribution script which works seamlessly with Clickbank, ebookpro user codes and DL Guard

I now have a super secure, auto distribution solution for my work and no one except the computer user it is installed on can see it!

Thanks DL Guard and Ebookpro !

What I see is a lot less refunds and a lot more sales due to unavailability of the "free" ones

Now I realize some wiseass will eventually screenshot and upload my work one day (stop smoking niche = maybe they wont bother . . .lol) but, until that happens I think I have successfully stemmed the flow of the pirates

Regards to all

Keith

Sounds like a great solution to a widespread problem. I will check out the site myself as this was always a fear of mine about releasing an ebook of my own.

ya. what bugged me was all my hard work just being given away for free pretty much from day one but I no longer have to worry about that now. The only drawback with dlguard is that it can only be installed on 2 domains, then you have to buy another one = $147.00usd - so -for 74 per domain and product I guess thats not too bad, plus it is instant integration with many payment processors so I think it is a reasonable expense to ensure streamlined process

If that's the one from IMC it's been around for about 10 years and hasn't taken off.

It is the one from IMC. I don't think it needs to 'take off"

It does an excellent job of stopping file sharing though

I looked into ebookpro a long time ago. There's no sales page, no product link, only paid support. This does not seem like it is a product that is being marketed and supported.

I went with Ebook Security - Protect Your Ebooks from Piracy. Yes, it turns the pdf into an exe file.
Yes, you can revoke the license when a refund occurs and the ebook will not open
No, the ebook won't open on more than one computer.
It works beautifully to prevent piracy.

Sure, some assmonkey can take screenshots, and put it together in a big, cumbersome pdf, but hasn't happened yet. Assmonkeys are lazy. They want you to deliver the product in a form that they can easily spread all over the Internet.

It doesn't work on a Mac, so I have a different Mac solution. This WSO works beautifully for Macs
    http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...2011-deal.html

It requires that the buyer put in their Paypal transaction number to get the download link. It then delivers the pdf watermarked with the buyers name, transaction number and email address.

Sure, all the naysayers are going to say people don't like exe files, and blah blah blah. You can all continue to deliver your pdfs and they will soon be available everywhere for free.

I have had zero refunds for my ebook because only people who really want the information have bought it, rather than people who want to sell it themselves or share it.

      Hi

I understand what you are saying here but, I have to state my own experience for those who may benefit from it. Correct, there is no sales page for it. If you wanted it you would have to go here:

      http://www.internetmarketing.com/pro.../ebook-pro.php

      and become a member

As for support mine has been free and they have done a great job of responding to any queries I had thus far.

I see the site and product has changed hands recently but they are still using it so it is not discontinued:

The http://www.internetmarketing.com/pro...nd-pricing.php is its home nowdays which gets you it free as long as you are a member but i simply paid the 98.50

I am pretty sure it does work on a mac now but mac has less than 6% of the marketshare :

      Operating system market share

with windows at 90% so that's not too much of an issue to me

anyways . . different strokes for different folks but you are right. Those who want the info do pay and if what you give them is what it says on the tin they generally do not refund

Thanks for your post. I am happy with ebookpro as it streams with paypal nicely and dlguard etc

    Keith,
Does eBook pro allow you to block the pdf in case of a refund?

    Thanks for sharing your insights!

What would be ideal is a PDF security function that worked like iTunes. Allow it on five devices and that's it.

Then the reader can put it on their PC, their Mac, a laptop, an iPad, their iPhone, etc.

Tag it with their email address, name, purchase date, IP address, etc.

Somehow you'd have to allow the user to remove an existing device in case they can't use it anymore.

I've been using Ebook Pro for a few years and have been really happy with it. I've also used other products from the Internet Marketing Center.

    A few things:

I looked into ebookpro a long time ago. There's no sales page, no product link, only paid support. This does not seem like it is a product that is being marketed and supported.
They actually do have a sales page and Excellent support. Any time I had a problem, IMC's support would get back to me the same day.

Why would you need dlguard if you are creating your ebooks with ebookpro? The whole point of ebookpro is that it secures your ebook from piracy.
This is partially true. DL guard helps to protect the download link that customers use to download the ebook, but Ebook Pro helps to protect the actual ebook from being passed around after it's downloaded. It's an EXE file, and customers have to be online and enter a username and password, (only once) to access their ebook. There is no easy way to pass around the ebook after purchase.

Now I realize some wise ass will eventually screenshot and upload my work one day
Actually, Ebook Pro disables all screen shot software so this is not possible.

Yes, there are endless debates on this forum about protecting ebooks and most around here are scared to death of EXE files, but I've found that particular issue to be a non-issue when selling outside of the IM niche. I've never had any customers bitch about having to download or use an EXE file.

Does eBook pro allow you to block the pdf in case of a refund?
It's not a PDF. Each customer has an EXE file and you can disable their ebook after they request a refund. I've done this a few times.

I actually use E-junkie in combination with Ebook Pro for my main ebook. I use E-Junkie to deliver the "Thank You" email with download links. I can also deliver unique codes with E-Junkie. It works very well with me.

Now, is Ebook Pro overkill? That's something only you can decide. If you're just starting out it might be a bit much, but the protection is almost full proof which adds to piece of mind.

    1. Requires a compatible platform
    2. Requires communication with the server
    3. Limits customer use
    4. You have to buy keys
    5. if ebookpro went under, IT'S TOAST! HEY, it has happened to others before. LUCKILY, IMC has handled Coreys(sp?) death well. That one car accident COULD have disabled this!

Just something to think about. BTW I DID look at MANY variants, and this is one.
Active Ebook has a way to greatly limit copying, with LESS strife! IT isn't perfect EITHER, but doesn't have problems 2,4 or 5! Of course, active ebook doesn't have the disable feature that ebookpro does.

I tried to check out eBookPro, but all the links are dead at the site for ordering and the product link itself is not referenced from the home page.

As a follow-up though, I did check into a product called HYPrLock. It's a stand alone application, no online service required. No customer online logins required. Reasonably priced for unlimited distribution.
      • Automatic Payment System, self contained, so no matter where the book goes the order page goes with it.
      • Instant Password Validation
      • Instant Refund Disabling
      • Secure Fulfillment System from purchase to download
      • CD-Rom Distribution built in
      • No Online Monitoring
      Looks interesting.

BeechHill, this product looks good. Let me know if you are going to try it. Once I create my non-free eBook, I will need to invest in a service like this.
