What is your free traffic method?

Mine is picking keyword-rich domain names. (with the usual high-search low-competition criteria). I like it because no matter what else you do to drive traffic, this method works from the start, for free and forever.

Okay, now your turn...

    Writing an article, spinning it, and then submitting it to hundreds of directories is my favorite method to obtain free traffic.

      How effective is 1 article? If done right, and keyword-targeted?
      If you submit it to 100's of directories...

      Also, do you pay someone to submit it all?

      I've not gotten hard into the article thing yet. But the market seems diluted? Seems to be just somany articles all over the place on random stuff. Not sure, just an observation.

        If you ask me I would write more than one article... as a matter of fact.. the more the merrier... As far as submission... you can hire someone to submit them for you... But if you are just starting out it would be in your best interest to learn where to submit articles... A couple quick searches on the forum should yield some answers for you and then it just takes time to submit them all.. Hope this helps...

    Niche specific forums and most recently Facebook and Twitter. Looks like I finally broke the secret code on the latter part, because I am getting a flood of traffic from my account these days.

    Facebook fanpages are good, but you need a ton of fans to move any size-able amount of traffic.

    Depends on the kind of traffic. StumbleUpon is the best for just pure impressions, but for sales it's a different story.

        One of the coolest tips we covered in a course that Tina and I just put out...

        (for those clients that bought don't get pissed, I"m being a hippie here and want to help out)

        Honestly.... Linkedin + answers --- easy way to nail page 1 positions on Google using the answers element of LinkedIN...powerful and easy.

        There are others but that's a pretty decent place to start.

    Articles by far for me anyway. I still get traffic from articles that are 5+ years old. If you take your time and write a good article and put a little effort behind it you can really hit them out of the ballpark rankings wise and get a ton of views and clicks to your site.

    I've recently gotten into buying articles and spinning them and using some sites to help with the submissions, but I'd still say writing a good article out does one you wrote in about 5 minutes and spun 20 times.

    Both of these methods are my free traffic.

    If your looking for tools. I've been testing SEO Link Vine, and The Best Spinner. I'm sure there are others out there that might even be better.

      Does anybody have something new? It's always the same old stuff... article marketing, forum marketing, video marketing, facebook, twitter, blog commenting, guestposting, social media, yada, yada, yada... Is there really nothing new?

        Nothing much is new under the sun. We've been on planet earth a really long time. But if it works, what does it matter if it's old or new? Blogging, commenting on blogs, social networking, meeting people face-to-face, parties, telling stories, forums, building relationships, what makes you try something?

    I like reviews about products I've bought ... include the product name, creator and write a natural review which will pick up traffic from people interesting in buying.

    No real keyword research necessary.

    Surely its about a combination of all of these. Expereinced people I talk to say: articles, good content on site & blogs, becoming involved and visible in forums. For me I haven't done much on social networks but plan to start.
    People go on about 'what's new?' and new methods do crop uo but i reckon its about persistance and working on your activity consistantly

    There are lots of traffic generation methods but the most effective traffic generation method is to use Twitter and Linkedin along with Facebook to generate targeted traffic. Use of forums and relevant blogs is also very useful way.

      I wouldn’t call any of the traffic I get free.

      Even though I didn’t pay money for it, I did have to put in time and effort. So it cost something.

      That being said, my favorite source of traffic is through search engines.

      Once you make it to the top, it’s pretty much smooth sailing.

      Search engines are pretty consistent. I don’t have to worry about the whimsical trends of social media.

      The traffic will continue to come in unless the niche completely dries up.

      My second favorite is social traffic. Although it is not as reliable as search engine traffic, it is much more explosive.

      I don't think anyone even reads my twitter feed. I have about 1000 followers but I'm pretty sure most of them are bots. hahah, I guess that's whatcha get for putting "internet marketing" in your bio.

    Of course the most important consideration in online business is how do you get people to visit your site or blog? It is by basing your content on well researched keywords, which people are already using to search for the product or service your are marketing. I use Micro Niche Finder for my keyword/niche research and it has been quite useful in my promotion of Clickbank digital products.

    Get traffic with video.

    Without getting into anything lengthy, here are are two quick tips for increasing video traffic.

    Video Trafficker Tip #1:

    In the subject line and also in the descriptions of the Youtube video, place "weird" characters at the front and at the back, like so:

    © ® ¿ Watch me make a ton of money...LIVE ¤ O ©

    Your video will stand out from the sea of others. Watch your clicks soar.

    To find weird characters on your computer;
    Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Character Map

    Video Trafficker Tip #2:

    Use Pixelpipe.com. Many of us are familiar with Pixelpipe to distribute videos on video sharing sites across the 'net. But did you also know you can use pixelpipe to distribute videos to iphones...for FREE?
    pixelpipe.com/iphone

    Talk about a powerful untapped resource!

    Go get 'em.

    keyword domain is really important
    in fact, so important, that it is not worth time on other things to rank it
    if the domain itself indicates a challenge.

    =========
    then...

    properly formatted title, content and description tags

    and keyword-named images and description tags

    ==========

    then...

    "terms of service" & "privacy policy" links

    ( Basically - comply with AdWords regulations and Google will love your page )

    ========

    Finally ...

    keyword text links on
    blogspot, wordpress, weebly, wetpaint, hubpages, squidoo

    and videos with inks on

    youtube metacafe ..a few others
