I think I'm suffering from Information Overload!!

I was advised to follow one course or product, but decided to read and learn alot about it before applying it. But you will have to try and apply what you learn, and it can take time for some traffic and sales to come.

Here's my best advice. You have probably heard this time and time again but it's true. Stick to something and keep prodding at it until you see results. The results will come if you stick with one thing long enough. There are some fantastic courses out there. Find one follow the instructions and you will see results. I have not been at this game for donkey years or anything. Been doing it serious for about 18 months now. Today I have already made over $600. All free traffic, SEO etc. Find a good course that interests you in the product review section of this forum, (you will know if it is good or not by the reviews from fellow warriors) follow the instructions and work your ass off. The results will follow. Success might seem like a Million miles away to you right now but if you roll your sleeves up you will make it.

Suffer from overload? Yes. There is a lot to take in indeed. I would say to try to focus on one method or strategy at a time at first. It's easy to start trying everything and not thoroughly giving a true effort to one method or startegy.

Those 2 guys tell you the truth and wont sell you anything. They just teach you how to make money from your blog or website. The teach how to get sites ranked in the search engines pretty much.

It's a very simple method, but it will take actual work to achieve results (unlike a lot of "programs" and ebooks people will push on you)

TKA is where I learned how to gauge competition, keyword research, and everything else there is to know. It's also only a buck to try it for a month, then $33 per month after that. They also have some awesome tools and a great forum where you can get real advice....try and stay away from bigger forums like this because you can get confused easily. This place is good to contribute to tho also because you can get answers to questions also.

There's a lot of different methods and stuff, plus there's people out there pushing crappy methods for stuff just to make their own money. Just do your research and be dedicated.

Overload happens. Even I feel overloaded with new info consistently after doing this for 8 years.

My advice to you- figure out how long you are going to spend each day on your biz. Then take 30% of that and use that for "education". The remainder must be spend on doing and implementing what you learned.

You need a timer- seriously, you can burn hours reading and reading and reading. You must limit your reading time and make sure the doing gets done.

The reality is that much of the information is probably duplicated. Just focus on those things that will get you the results you're looking for. Then take massive action on it. For example, if you want to lose weight, you can spend days and weeks and months reading and studying material. However, all you need is a simple plan of action to get you the results desired.

You can only overload yourself with information if you don't do anything with what you learn. Learn to focus on one plan and block out the rest UNTIL you see results.

I have been going through same thing as forum, ebooks can be great at learning but I do not know when to stop learning and start applying. I feel like I am almost there, but missing final puzzle piece to make it. Does anyone else feel that way?

Everyone suffers from this! I overcame it by choosing my starting path and sticking to it and picking one mentor one training program and focus on just that!

Out of all the things you've looked at what appeals to you the most? Pick it and don't pick it because you think it will make you more money, pick it because you love it and people will be able to see you have a PASSION for it and that's what will make you more money.

Stay focused on that one thing, but learn new ways to improve it, when you're happy with what you do, people detect that and therefore you get a better result from them. When you're not, they detect that as well and your sales will suck.

Also there is a great site called The Energy Project (focus on human energy) I highly suggest you check it out and they've also got some great videos on youtube and google (obviously lol) it's all free, there's no hidden pitches, great webinars, but teaches you how to maximize your focus and your energy, thus giving you the ability to be more productive. I follow their system like clockwork.

Information overload is nasty. It can keep you from getting anything done at all.

in time, before the explosion of the internet, people had only relatively local access to information. As bulletin boards became popular, more information was avaialable, but the emphasis was again, fairly local in nature. Fast forward some years, and today, there is a plethora of information available, and much of it is in conflict.

That is, given any topic, you can find numerous references, programs, plans, courses or other informational items that conflict one another. Some of them even conflict themselves, either due to poor copywriting, changes over time, or just inattention.

Given a single objective, there are numerous opinions on how to acheive each objective, some good and some bad, and it can be extremely difficult to separate the charlatans from the truly experienced authorities.

I don't know how I would relate to it if I hadn't seen it grow from the very first elements. Yep, that makes me one of the "old dudes" as I've been called more than once. It is somewhat difficult to put myself in your shoes but I know it can be hard to keep from being overwhelmed by the incredibly huge amount of iniformation available.

The best I can offer is to choose one method or program, implement it and keep track of what you do.

Don't give up.

Even a poor program can succeed with persistence. Once you have learned the basics of internet marketing and achieved some success, THEN is the time to perhaps look at other programs (which you may even already own). Given your experience you will then be able to better evaluate how they might work for you and whether you should then implement them.

I know this sounds somewhat inefficient, and it may be, but at least you will no longer suffer from information overload.

I think it happens to most of us. There's so much to learn, it's all exciting, the ideas roll through your brain all day ... all the possibilities are amazing.

You're probably already seeing in this post, that the ideas are flying at you at a 100 miles an hour.

Although it's kinda boring and a "no duh!" recommendation:

Get a feel for basic marketing methods that you keep seeing pop up over & over on the forum, find out how to do that method (maybe get a program or find someone that teaches it)... and then put on your blinders & follow through until you see some results.

If you were trying to start a brick n motar, offline business, I doubt you'd be dabbling in a little of this & a little of that. It's too pricey & you wouldn't see results soon enough to know what's working, right?

Take that same mentality & use it for your online business venture.

Find that one marketing system that appeals to you and you feel you could stick with... & then just do that one thing until you see results. That means you may have to test & tweek & fail & redo... but you'll start seeing a positive return on your work faster than if you program hop and chase newer, shinier things.

That's exactly what I finally started doing to start seeing results after trying my turn at this "game". Hope that helps!

The first step is to unsubscribe from all the lists if you're suffering from information overload.

Emails are powerfully distracting if you're starting out because you would be sold again and again to different types of programmes that all have a potential to make money.

Unsubscribe first and stick to one course you think can work. Then hang around here abit at the end of the day to read and learn stuff from the experts giving advice.

Information overload?

Don't despair. All of us were in your shoes not too long ago. The good part is --- you are learning. And you SHOULD be. That is where you start.

But bear in mind that it is impossible to know EVERYTHING. So at some point in time (preferrably in a week's time) you must STOP your information gathering --- and START doing. Anything.

Do something "CONCRETE", say ... building a website. Just do it. Make mistakes. Start again... make mistake ... so on, so forth.

You'll learn best by doing. Don't be afraid to err. You have to make many mistakes first in order to do it right finally ---- for how can you determine what is correct if you do not even know what is wrong?

In the PROCESS of, say, building a website, you will learn what "things" you NEED TO KNOW. .. Got that my friend? ***You do NOT need to know everything.*** You only need to know those things which are NECESSARY to accomplish the task at hand.

At the end of the day you will have acquired so many crucial skills ... you are well ahead of 99% of all people you met online. Congratulations ... in advance.

I am STILL suffering! LOL I guess you have to start by focusing on one thing and try to block out all the other distractions. It can be overwhelming - no doubt! Some of the technical stuff I really struggled with since I could not afford to do to much outsourcing.

But, keep learning. Eventually, it will start to come into focus and you can see how all the pieces fit together.

One of the things that helped me was by setting daily goals. Actually write them down and try to be realistic. Maybe one day you will watch a video on affiliate marketing, another day you can write one blog post. Keep yourself balanced with "information overload" and actually taking some actions. It will take time, but keep at it and you will feel less overwhelmed (sorta)....

I started out with the 30 Day challenge too (although I did it in 10 days). I think it is probably the best introduction to affiliate marketing as far as covering the basics.

I have taken what I learned there and focused on marketing physical products from Amazon. I like this, I can promote literally any product I can imagine.

I'm suffering from overload as well, but things are getting better now.

I decided to follow just a few marketers who I trust. However, the problem still is, that you still get distracted because of the promos they send to their lists. I'm tempted to try them, but I just have to be strong now

But ... the important decision I made was to quit buying any new products. I'm afraid to even think of how much I spent last year to e-books and training, that I haven't actually used. Once I put all those things to a big list, I could finally realize the madness.

So, no IM stuff for me ... at least for a while. I want to go through the stuff I have, see if it works and stick to it.

2011 - Year of clarity and focus

The problem stems from being so new - not having any idea whatsoever of what is involved. It's a huge job to learn all the elements - from simple terminology to site building to auto responders to marketing and all of its options. Just learning about the internet marketing world in general is a lot of work. And then you have to learn what is important and what is not, which elements you need to know, and which you don't.

It's tough. I remember it well.

Here's what I would suggest. Some of these probably will be repeated in this thread.

1. First you should establish what are your skills. That's always a good starting point. Are you good with people, good at writing, graphic design, or something else? What's your background? What jobs did you do before? See if there's a task you really enjoyed that you could turn into a business. Think about your hobbies and any volunteer work you did. It's not really important to find something you enjoy, but it could help.

What this will do is help you to target your research. Depending on what you might want to do, you might not need to know about such things as building a web site or creating products or doing customer service. Or you might never need to put together a video presentation or write a sales page. You might never need to know about social media or pay per click.

2. Next, think about what you might want to do for a business. Look around on sites where people are offering jobs and services. Look up affiliate sites (Clickbank, Commission Junction, Share-a-sale, etc.) and see what types of products are out there.

3. For ideas, look at some of the sites where people are selling the types of products or services you might want to sell as a business. See what they're doing. Sign up for their newsletters. Check things like the content on their sites, how they present themselves. From this research, you'll get an idea of what's involved and if you would like to do that.

4. When you've found some ideas, then start investigating what you need to do to enter that type of business. Read any help sections. If you decide to become an affiliate marketer, take a look at how it's done. Some sites offer really good help on what it means to be an affiliate. Associated Programs.com is one such site. Sign up for his newsletter which contains tips on affiliate marketing.

After you get some knowledge into you, you can focus on just the information that relates to what you want to do.

And then, do it one bit at a time. Take one element, study it thoroughly, practice it. Get it working. Don't worry about any of the other things until then. Next, move on to another element and do the same until you've become an expert in how it's done.

What you should NOT do is fall for the quick sales, instant business and profits, one-click offers. Many are just scams, others just don't live up to the claims, and yet others take more work than they tell you.

Starting an online business from scratch takes time, if you're serious. There is so much to learn, you have to accept the fact that you very well might never learn it all. But then, you don't need it all. You only need what relates to the business model you have chosen. Which takes you back to point 2 above.

It is tough when you're first starting out, but I hope this will help you.

then focus on what you really want to do online. Build a business? Make yourself a celebrity? Become famous?

Either way, there are tons of ways to make a killing online.

You just need to get clear and focused on what it is you really want to do.

Then stick with your plan and find out how to get there.

Don't get caught in the viral disease of being an opportunity seeker, you won't get anywhere.

Word of advice: Look at how these people sell to you, and learn how to do that, instead of buying their stuff.

Yes, we all have suffered from information overload, bought countless of courses, systems and followed many Gurus.

My suggestion:

Find something were you can make immediate income, and learn about it, for me it is ebay. With eBay you have the sales platform, YOU HAVE THE BUYERS, you just need a good offer and a few techniques. To learn about it buy a course, go to youtube, search online, but stick to eBay to begin with.

When you begin doing some money with eBay, you can try other income streams, or you might be doing so good that you decide just to concentrate on eBay.

Yes, I am still learning about eBay, and already began to try other things, but mostly I am concentratin on learning how to generate traffic. If you learn to do this, that itself is a business, offering your services.

Ed Dale's challenge is pretty powerful and a very focused tutorial that is specifically designed for a newbie, and if you follow it to the letter you should not have to worry about information overload creeping in.

What I suggest you do is unsubscribe from all those lists you're on, and focus only on the Challenge. I know this may sound a bit extreme, but trust me on this - information overload is a very real and debilitating problem that has kept many newbies from making any progress in their IM for months or even years, so please just focus on one thing at a time until you make some headway.

I went through Ed's challenge several years ago, and it's pretty solid and actionable information (I'd imagine it has been significant improved since then), so just stick with that until you start seeing some results.

Best advice i could give you is learn one method and learn it well. Also, get off a bunch of email lists that aren't bringing you value. I would start there. Learn everything you need to know about being an affiliate. It's the least costly ways to enter and become profitable

just put this in mind... one traffic generation first.. stick to it... master it.. one website first... and one autoresponder.. BUILD YOUR LISTS.. BUILD YOUR LISTS..

I have been through that and still am from time to time. There are some much information out there. The best way is to really stick to one. The question is which one to pick and start because that is the one that you want to focus on till you see result. And the fact is that the result you see depends on many factors and one of the most important factor is the niche you pick. The next is the keywords/keyphrases. The same techniques you learn from any courses/programs (free or paid) works the same. But they produce different results. So it may not be the techniques do not work but rather the niche and the competition. So get through the technical aspect quickly ie, the setting up of websites for instance and getting into ranking and traffic generation quickly. Fine-tuning the website is very important too. At the end of the day, it is the sale that you made that count.

I was there too at my starting point. But, I had the right people to listen too. When you start out, pick a program and read the reviews. READ THE REVIEWS before you pick a system.CAN I SAY THAT ENOUGH? READ THE REVIEWS!

If you can spend a few $$$, start out with Mike Long and Kelly Felix. They are the best in showing you what you need and deal you no BS. If you sign up with them, they will give you their real cell phones and Skype ID's. I tell ya, they are great! and sign up for the free forum. People there will help you with any question you need and they don't hold back.

This may be redundant and I admit I didn't read every reply...But still, here's my 2 cents. First, information overload happens not only to "newbies" or beginners, but it can happen to advanced marketers. Somebody somehwere is always launching a "new fangled" push button easy traffic system to get rich $47 bucks at a time plus upsells and build their list.( Not that it's necessarily wrong) people are trying to make a living. I always say to those looking for join my business who seek my advice, start with ONE thing and master it. Even if "mastering it" is mastering who to outsource to for having articles written let's say.

While we're on articles...Make your everyday game plan to live and breath articles and do this for a few months or even longer. They are great for backlinks and can provide lots of residual traffic. Once you have a good number out there working for you, THEN conquer blogs, autoblogs or PPC or organic SEO..As someone who's tried to wear 5 hats at once, let me say it doesn't work...............UNLESS you have a staff, which the "gurus" do. Being a master of one is better than being a master of NONE (my 2 cents) Lots of good advice here and lots of these folks have good points PS. If you're on more than 10 marketers lists, it wouldn't hurt to unsubscribe from a few...You're NOT missing anything I can assure you.

No matter what shiny new object course is being sold, the fundamentals never change which is having good content, solid keyword research and lots of backlinks ....Final note- When you "are" tempted buy new traffic deals come here first. You're sure to see some real and honest reviews and they can save you time and money if the product under delivered (which many do)

I am brand new to the Warrior forum, but not to IM. Here are the two things you must learn: patience and discipline. Patience is necessary because it takes work and time for the work to pay off; Discipline is required just to keep you from going astray. A few others have commented likewise and when you see several folks who have gotten their feet wet already agreeing, listen to them.
You will be distracted from your goal without the discipline to ignore all the emails promising an unstoppable flow of easy cash to your mail box you couldn't stop if you tried! Please...focus, concentrate, find a "guru" to follow (careful...) or a system that appeals to your smarts and not your greed. If Greed tries to talk Smart into something, don't listen. That said, it's easier said than done!

I suffer also from information overload.

I got tons of ebooks and informational audio mp3 here on my computer.

But some are useful. But it turns out not too satisfying coz
I only earn just enough for the table.

I only try twitter and rss feed to make me some money!

But this technique right now I apply it's not included on All my ebooks.

Here is my suggestions. There are only two ways to make money online. Sell your own product or sell other peoples' product.

Once you select which way you want to go, your focus is just to work on the four fundamentals of IM.

- Product creation
- Copy writing
- List building
- Getting affiliates

The rest of the thing will fall into place. Forget about the free stuff you are bombard with. Just remember that unless you truly need the product, don't even bother looking at it.

Definitely know what you mean, I nearly gave up before I started due to a massive overload of information. The problem I found was that everyone was claiming their system was the one that worked. In the end I picked one, that as a newbie I found simple to follow. I then didnt read anymore about other methods but just followed the guidelines set out in the method I was following. Cant tell you how much weight came off my shoulders when I actually started to build my first web site and had no other distractions.

I have to agree with many of the posts above.

Pick something and follow it to completion. Even if it does not turn out to me a success financially, it will be a success because of what you will have learned by doing it.

Warning: Here is where the blunt part comes in -

Most likely the first thing you do is going to be...well... let's just say not the greatest achievement of your career (most of us are embarrassed at the first attempts) - really, compare the work you made in kindergarten that your Mom hung up on the refrigerator to what you can do now - same thing with being new to Internet Marketing. So, make that metaphorical stick figure and move on. You can't be a Michelangelo out of the gate.

It is very difficult when first getting involved with Internet Marketing. There is so much to learn and so many people trying to peddle their programs. I went from one to the other, learning a little here and there.

I tried PPC and spent more on ads than I made in profit. The same can be said of Facebook ads and also Mobile advertising. The outcome was that I spent loads on programs that taught me how to spend money on ads but not make any.

I am now sticking to article marketing and using Dan Brock as my mentor.

This is happened for all of us. That's why we need a clear mission to make money online with expertized area. We don't need to look at others methods. Just identify your skills and make a path to get success.

I assure you that you'll be miles ahead of other newbies if you can devote just 2 hours daily to implementation of a method or system. Don't be stuck in analysis/research mode all the time, because this will only serve to overload your mind with information, confuse you, and paralyze you into not taking any action at all!

Just focus one thing at a time, and please try to follow through with the 30 day challenge!

I still struggle with lack of focus big time I have about 4 good ideas in the development and I spend about a hour on each one a day, rather than just choice one and go for it.

Is this a lack of confidence in anyone idea or some sort of attention problem, who knows but I have to sort it out.

I have been doing IM for just under 5 months now. I started by doing the Challenge. It is a very good course, but you need to stick with it until the end.I also did another excellent shorter course (I can PM you the details if you want).

I really think that the key is to learn and implement as you go along and this way you will gradually start earning.

Regarding the stuff in your email box, just press the delete button. You can only learn one or two thing at a time.

We all have struggled with information overload and I am still struggling with it. But what others have already said is you MUST stick with one thing until you see results.

I'm sure every one on this page at one time or another had information overload, they've all given some great and real advice and that was they never considered the word QUIT.

Yes it will take effort to achieve what you're after.

I would say forget about the advanced stuff for now, focus on the beginners side of things and learn it over and over till it's second nature.

Try and find yourself a mentor and stick with the one person, remember if you keep switching from page to page you'll get nothing done, it's like having sky on your TV where you've to many channels to skip to never being satisfied with watching the one channel where you can relax and enjoy.

It's the same with Internet marketing, find someone that you know has made it and can teach you, "block all the rest out". Good luck.

What worked for me was to find one program, one person I resonated with and stick with that until it worked.
