Is pinging only good for Wordpress sites?

I have a number of different types of sites including HTML, Joomla and Wordpress.

Is pinging only good for wordpress sites or is it also useful for HTML and Joomla?

    Should work with any? RSS feed.

    There was an article recently mentioned here (jinggling the web) that talked about not always pinging, but rather mix in social bookmarks that may provide a higher pr jumping off point than the ping sites.

    Pinging is helpful for HTML and Joomla also, it's just notifying Google that there have been changes. If you ping too much, you can raise red flags to Google so let them find the changes naturally and you won't have any problems.

    No, pinging is for any type of website. But you can still opt to let Google know everything about your update naturally but it takes some time.
