Cant decide where to buy a domain name.

For every 5 good reviews of a hosting company, I hear 5 negatives. I was told to try
GoDaddy - no avoid GoDaddy. Try Name Cheap, they have Whois - no stay
away from them. I'm really wasting time. I have to choose a domain name so should
I just pick one, maybe Register.com and just go for it?

I switched to Namecheap and I'm glad I did.

It doesn't matter very much. (As long as you don't register and host in the same place!).

I'm the same way. Been with the same domain seller for 10 years now. They cost a tad bit more, but the whole process is simple and easy to manage since they are all together. That's worth a lot.

To further confuse you, all of my domains are registered with godaddy

Really, it doesn't matter that much who it is as long as it's a reputable company. The big poo poo debates are mostly over hosting not registration.

Just pick one and get it over with. You're spitting hairs over something that isn't worth the time.

I use them both. They're both perfectly good. Flip a coin. If you want to go to register.com, they're perfectly good too.

    It's just not that important.

This what I was going to recommend as well. I have used Godaddy for over 20 domains with no problems or hassles. I have also used NameCheap for a few domains as I bought sites that had them registered there.

Its just a domain name, but I wouldn't recommend Godaddy for hosting, but for domains they are my #1 choice.

I use both and haven't had a probleum with either.

I've heard the horror stories for years about GoDaddy.

Maybe I'm lucky. I used GoDaddy for over 6 years.

        Name Cheap for 5 years.

Get your domain and go to work building your business.

The most important part is to own the Domain and to register where is not going to be hosted!

I recommend setteling on one, it gets confusing trying to remember where you got that one domain from because you wanna renew it or check on your account. I use Namecheap.

I use Godaddy for domain, but I heard namecheap is also good.

Get hosting from Bluehost or Hostgator though.

Please don't spend that much time on a decision like this.

It's easy to get caught up in the details and never, ever get anything done.

Use a company that's been around for a while and move on to something profitable. If you don't have the domain registered yet, it can't be making you money.

No offense, just don't stress over the little things.

You'll always here pros/cons about every company regardless of business line.

FWIW, I use namecheap and have some domains at godaddy.

    Hope it helps.

My domains are registered with GoDaddy but I use Hostgator for hosting.
In case you are interested Hostgator are also going to do Domain registry shortly as well and from what I have seen they will be cheaper than GoDaddy.
    Just a thought.
But as mentioned earlier just register it somewhere then host elswhere.

Hi in this case, try to purchase the first year in cheap using coupon code. Namecheap in $9something and godaddy has a promotion for 99cents -so the best bet is godaddy!

After your first year, that's where you can save the most, for the next years it's the same in all those registrants. In some places, such as hostgator is a hosting company, they charge $15 per domain. So I won't be buying domain from hostG.

Even though the domain is the cheapest thing of them all, it is infact the most valuable asset in your online/offline biz.

I use 3 vendors: GoDaddy, MyDomain, and NameCheap.

My only criteria for choosing which one today is to do a quick search for Coupon codes...The highest discount wins the day.

I use NameCheap and GoDaddy. The WhoIs with NameCheap is nice, but it's only for the first year then you have to pay for it.

I've used GoDaddy for years and never had a problem, but they are both great companies.

I vote for Godaddy. They will try and sell you other stuff but you don't have to buy. Their hosting runs around 3.99 to 4.99 per month. I do purchase the privacy option from them, especially if it is the main money site.

Namecheap is the only place I buy, simply because I like their service, they don't try to upsell me the moon and Who Is Protection is included for that first year.
