Run a Mega Successful WSO

Hi fellow Warriors and happy New Year!

I wondered if any experienced, battle-hardened Warriors who frequently run WSO's can give any tips, do's and dont's about running a very successful one (given that the product is well produced and viable).

What has helped you get that bit of extra ooomph out of your WSOs?

    Don't do what 90% of others do and release a product you have no idea about. You'll soon get found out when it comes to question time. Lots of people create products way before they've had the time to execute what they are teaching fully.

    I've only run one proper WSO and my only advice would be set a price you think is fair (ie don't sell it for $7 if you think it's worth $97). Also, get some people in your niche to review the product before you list it for sale and make sure you build a reputation as being knowledgeable in your niche first (whether it be on forums, blogs or whatever).

    Sell your method for free, or at cost in exchange for reviews. I don't care how good your sales page is, if you can get 10 positive reviews from other members, you're set, and your product will sell itself.

      Yes, ditto what Lazy said. It's all about the reviews on your salespage. Reputation is everything.

      I'm not sure this is the entire recipe to success with a WSO. 10 review copies may help but that is not "amazing" Advice.

      Say for example, you had a WSO on article marketing and you had 50 review copies about how good it was. Do you think you'd sell more than say Alexa Smith, a well established, very successful article marketer whose opinion isn't just sought but highly valued here, with no reviews?

      No, you wouldn't. That's because reputation here means a lot. It's also one of the ways forum marketing works.

      A lot of people come here and stick a link to their site from the word go or try and palm themselves off as experts and then flog their WSO.

      Andy Fletcher got it spot on. Reputation is what sells here. If you think you can come here, give a away a few copies of a product and that gaurantee's you sales, I'm afraid you'll be a bit disappointed.

        Review copies help build your reputation. And it's not at all realistic to compare someone with an established WSO guru if they are just starting out. My advice is intended for someone who has never sold anything before.

          It may not be "fair" but that's exactly what's going to happen in the WSO forum. When people's eyes are scanning down threads to open it's as much about the rep of the poster as it is about the title.

          You'll gain far more from investing the time into posting, reputation building and networking than you would into running "your first WSO" where your only hope of sales is giving loads of copies away for free.

            I agree with you, I'm not saying that review copies are the only strategy. Far from it. Just that they are a good idea if someone is trying to establish themselves.

            I'll use myself as an example here. I'm new to Warrior Forum. I've only been here since last month. I launched my first product on this site a couple days ago. In the first day, I gave away review copies, and as soon as the reviews were posted, I stated getting sales.

          I wasn't comparing you with a WSO "guru" as you call it.

          Alexa, just one of many people I could have used in this example, hasn't released a WSO.

          That was my point. Her reputation exceeds what she has or hasn't sold. People know her by her good reputation.

          That was what I was trying to say, I'm not saying review copies are no good. Just that they're not the "be all and end all."

          For someone that's never sold anything before I admit that is a good point. Having said that, by getting review copies, you're still trying to build a reputation.

          There's a ton of factors involved outside of this too. My point still stands though that review copies alone will not sell your product. Indeed if the products crap, how do you get review copies?

    I'll sum it up in 3 words.

    Reputation, reputation, reputation.

    For those of you still unsure. Consider this. If Allen Says signed up for a brand new account on the Warrior Forum and posted a 2 liner WSO would you buy it? Heck no.

    If he just posted that 2 liner WSO as himself would you? Of course. Heck, I'd buy it without reading the 2 lines of sales copy.

    This forum is one giant community. Invest well in advance of any WSO by participating actively and offering solid, useful comments in the main forum (and sub-forums). You may not be told in so many words by other members, but they will take note. It's like having a list. The time you invest by participating and providing good comments builds your authority and establishes bona fides. It's very similar to what you do when you interact with your email list. Same net effect. When you finally ask them to spend money on something you offer, all that groundwork pays off.

    Then, as long as you offer good stuff at a fair price, the table is set for your future WSO success.

    Also - very important - build a list of buyers starting with your very first WSO! It makes a HUGE difference over the long haul.

    The sales page always matters. But you can definitely get away with a less-than-stellar one here in your WSO if you have that all-important reputation we've been talking about. That actually can be a bad thing once you move outside of the forum to sell your stuff. I've seen my own WSO's that were selling a pretty high conversion rate here drop way off outside of here. The traffic source matters a lot, of course, but it's a tougher row to hoe outside of these comfy confines.

    Regarding review copies...

    Even before setting up the WSO I contacted a few warriors in private. Not based on the number of posts (as many new members do it!) but based on their interest and expertize in the same field. I asked for an honest opinion about my product.

    AFTER seeing they liked it, and only after that - I asked them if I could use their feedback as a testimonial. They all agreed Even more, some of them offered to post it to my WSO thread... if I let them know when it was live.

    And the rest comes from happy, satisfied customers :

      It doesn't really apply to this question - because you aren't running a WSO. If you can get reviews from people with good reps here - it will help. Reviews from new members or those who "love" everything they get for free won't do much for a WSO.

      If you aren't a member of the War Room, you can't run a Warrior Special Offer.

          I can see the obvious benefit of releasing some review copies privately to marketers for feedback and - if positive - a good review for the WSO thread when it goes live.

          I can't see the benefit of putting it as a freebie in the War Room if you want many of those people to buy it as a WSO.

          Is that what was meant or am I mis-understanding the post?

    Secrets to selling a bunch:

    1. Solid, positive reputation here.

    2. Lots of positive reviews.

    3. An email list (which you can build up)

    4. Scarcity in pricing. (Dimesale build up of price)

    5. Scarcity in selling days. (Shut down the sale after so many days - then reopen spots later)

    6. Add in bonus's after a few days to everyone who buys (and all previous buyers). This adds a lot of positive feelings and helps "stack the cool" and sell to those on the edge.

    7. Money back guarantee - the bigger, bolder, the better.

    8. Good sales copy.


    Most importantly The offer.

    If you are selling something like "How to grow a garden" - well, best of luck.

    Certain topics sell extremely well. Others won't sell at all, regardless of the above.

    I would also suggest you make sure that your product is something you yourself not only created, but have tested and know it to be true.

    Video proof or some other form of legit proof has really boosted the results of my WSOs. Some things are not gonna require proof for obvious reasons, like a PLR package of articles, in that case provide a good example.

    Best of luck with your WSO

    Oh and if you can network with a warrior, try doing a JV. Give a good percentage of sales to the other person and ask that you be able to build the buyer list...so your next WSO, you're good to go on your own :-)
