With regard to autoresponders, Aweber is fine but pricey. There are some licensed-out versions which are more reasonable.

Imnica Mail is less costly & always seems to get a consistent thumbs up from users.

Listwire is a very capable and professional free service set up by top marketer Gary Ambrose.

Aweber and getresponse are popular ones used by marketers

You need to think long term. If you want to get serious about this then go for the proper solutions right from the start. It will save you a lot of time and headaches further down the track. My suggestions are:

1. Optimize Press: OptimizePress - Internet Marketing Wordpress Theme
This is a very popular Wordpress theme that has been built by an Internet Marketer for Internet Marketers. You can create squeeze pages, video squeeze pages, launch pages, sales pages, etc all at the click of a button - and they look great. It's a one-time fee of around $97 last time I checked. I use this theme and love it.

2. Aweber
I have used Aweber for years and years now and would definitely recommend them. An autoresponder is one service you do not want to skimp on. Sure, there are other cheaper alternatives out there but Aweber is well known for having one of the best deliverability rates in the business. If you use a cheaper service and none of your emails get delivered then there's really no point is there? Besides, everyone who complains about the cost of Aweber obviously are not marketing their list effectively enough. Aweber is very reasonably priced for the service they provide. You will make your money back ten fold if you know what you are doing with email marketing - and you shouldn't be building a list if you don't!
