Article Marketers, Have You Ever Changed the Links in Your Resource Box...

after the article has gone LIVE on EZA directory database for some time, days, weeks...?

If yes, why?

Does it have any advantages?

If no, why?

Does it have any disadvantages?

I ask because I'm thinking of changing some links in my resource box because they are not converting at all.

I have changed links only because the articles were old and the sites they were linking to didn't exist anymore, so I changed the link to more current sites.

I certainly didn't do it for any other advantage than to build backlinks to sites that are current. If you change the links your article will go through the approval process again and I've actually had a couple rejected even though they were previously live.

You can certainly change them. I've changed a couple on old articles after I found better anchor text that was similar, but converted better. But, as Sheryl pointed out, you will have to go through the approval process again. And, bear in mind that anyone who syndicated the old version of your article won't have the updated changes.

Good to know. As an article marketing newbie I was wondering the same thing. I have already changed my author name twice and as I learn more, I can see myself changing my links. It is a bummer that syndicated articles are not affected--but I guess, when an article is published, the control of the released version is out of your hands.

I have changed mine, either because of low conversion, out of date, change in direction, wanting to convey a different marketing message, and to add some link juice to different URLs.

All were good reasons, and you should consider doing such things when it makes sense to do them.

I admit shamefully that I have NEVER changed a link with EZA, cause it has to be re-reviewed but thanks for reminding me - think it is about time that I checked through some of my old articles.

      Hey King Shiloh,

It is always worth changing your resource box if the CTR is very low, often a change of text to more of a call to action can re-vitalize the article and drastically improve the CTR ratio.

If your article has a low CTR then you may as well change the resource box to see if you can improve the CTR.

A “Call to action” can be the difference between a 5% CTR moving to a 35% CTR.

      Test it and see,

      All the best,

EZA has changed its policies about this.

Your article now remains live (which it never used to) pending and during the reviewal process, which they "normally attend to within one business day" (Chris Knight's own words, in an email replying to a related question I asked him).

In other words, there's no downside at all to doing this, now.
