Cool feature on Youtube...You tried it yet?

Hey hope everyone is doing splendid and I wanted to show

you a cool little feature on youtube that some may know about

but that those who don't could really get a kick out of and put to good

use.

It's the annotation option that's been added where you can

choose to have a little cartoon type bubble show during your video

with whatever text you want to put in there.

A friend of mine did a video for a one year course I offer

on how to drive web site traffic to your websites

and so I thought I'd test it out on that video to see

how the optins go.

The really neat part about this feature is that

instead of just posting any kind of caption

for my video, I decided to put it to work for me.

So now I've got a video employee

"selling" people on opting in to the one year course.

Basically a few seconds into the video,

I set the annotation to direct the viewer

on how they can register for the course for free.

It then points to the right where there is a link

in the description strategically set to grab the opt in.

Maybe I'll try making it anchor text with a keyword next.

But for now that's how I'm testing it and I'll let you know

the results.

I just published it yesterday and it's already got over 70 views

as of last time I checked it about an hour ago.

I still need to see how many optins so far and I'll report back

my findings if you're interested.

If you'd like to see an example of it in action to see how it works

for you here's the video

For those who already know about this feature and are using it,

how is it working for you?

For those who are discovering it for the first time here,

isn't it cool?

It would be better if you moved the annotation to a part of the screen where it didn't block your main video.

You just click on the annotation bubble and drag it to a different part of the screen

Oh cool, didn't even know you could click and drag.

Thanks for that, will have to test it for sure.

I used to do a big arrow pointing right to the hyperlink, but sometimes YouTube will change the vertical size of the ads that they serve above your description box (which makes it look silly when your arrow points to one of their ads and not your link!) So now I just say "Click on the link to the right of this video..."

Definitely a much better CTR than not mentioning the link at all in your video.

Ah very nice Brandon. Didn't know about the interceptions.
Thankfully that hasn't happened with me so hopefully only touchdowns.

@Chris Hi Chris, long term no see. Same with you. You were doing this with some of your foreclosure videos if I'm not mistaken?

@Ebbi Too kind, too kind Ebbmeister. You guys going to be enjoying some turkey and dressing for the holiday?

@Kamran This is the first vid I've done it with too. Google's always coming out with some cool little features. They've got sponsored videos now.

@Pinky08 Shouldn't be a problem, stick with me and we'll see what we can do after the holidays although it's ridiculously simple once you login to your account so you'd get it right away even without one, but yeah, we'll see what can be done on that.
