How many sites do you operate?

Hmmm I am currently operating 7 blogs and three sites.All sites I am working only for making money and frankly saying all of them are working well for me to generate money.

8 Wordpress blogs makes us around $120 a day, but they're old domains with stupid amount of the content.

The autoblogs run by themselves.

8 fresh content blogs is all I can handle. One post each week that is over 1000 words is all we do for "mature blogs". The new baby blogs get one a day, but these are short little posts to introduce big G to them.

I found that trying to put little focus into multiple sites is not nearly as effective as putting 100% of your focus into one single site at a time.

I own 10 sites that I use to make money. 3 of them are my big money makers while the others produce but not as well. I'm in the process of making a few new sites as we speak. I usually like to make 2 - 3 new sites a year. Each site I run is either a product or membership site.

One thing I will say is that it is becoming harder to manage all the sites as it's just me. So one thing I do is have all my sites cross promote one another with ads and thank you ads etc...

Butches groove sounds like ours. We only launch 2-3 "real" fresh content blogs a year, and let them simmer for many months. Autoblogs are always growing because they don't require work after set up.

Like Keith said. It's allot of work to maintain a quality blog with lengthy posts so the more you have the more infrequent your posting schedule has to be.

I forgot to mention that we also buy between $5000 - $8000 dollars worth of content from our writers each year. We have three good writers, and they all login into our Wordpress blogs, write fresh content (our way), and add pictures too. We love doing that and I wish I could do more.

Maybe someday right?

sounds like a pretty solid system if you've got the right writers. must be tough making a good profit if you're paying 3 writers regularly though?

He mentions that the sites make him around $120/day, which is $3600/month, ($43,200 a year). So investing $5,000-$8,000 back equals to about 15% from the profit, which is what ANY good business should be doing. So I say he has some solid system worked out. You cannot just take what you earn and run with it and expect to grow.

As for me, I have about 20, some of them are blogs, some mini-sites, there's even one e-commerce. These were all built in 2010 (some of them only a few weeks ago), so money is not pouring in yet, but I did start noticing some nice results lately, both money and traffic.

  About 2/3rds (Amazon/content sites) making a profit, the rest are older sites that I built when starting out that I need to sort out.
  
  Traffic, been round them all in the last few days and none of the money sites getting below 100 visitors a day, the highest averages 900+ per day with one getting over 2,000 visits every Sunday, more on bank holidays and over 6,000 on Christmas day - figure that one out

i have a feeling that a lot of people utilise content scraping and article spinning. i also think a lot of people do this all in one go and set up scheduled posts.

this way it leaves them time to build links to their content.

it's a pretty streamlined way of working but, i dunno, i'd prefer to write my own carefully crafted content about stuff i care about.

p.s. i'm not targeting anybody in particular with this post!

By scraping on automation, there are times when people are stealing content from other websites and breaking copyright laws. It is just a matter of time before someone gets into serious trouble. To stay safe, it is best to outsource the content writing or do it all yourself. The latter will mean you spending many hours or the capacity to work very fast (as in write a 500 word article in 10 minutes).

It depends what you call scraping on automation. If the content is scraped from article directories and the links retained then there is no problem because that is the purpose of directories. If the links are removed or content is taken from other websites without permission it may be breaking copywrite laws but it happens so much on the Internet it would be impossible to stop.

One of the tools that I use automatically imports articles from 2 directories, there is an option built into the plugin to remove the links. I don't use that option but as long as there are tools like that then links will get removed.

To stay safe, if you outsource content writing always run the articles through a plagiarism checker before using. Writing your own is the best option if you have the time, but don't forget the free content that you can use from directories and with such as EZA they check for plagiarism before acceptance.

I only visit 2 of my sites daily and those are the article directories. I have several non profitable sites that I built when I started out that I don't work on currently because they need repurposing or the domains selling, but I'm kinda fond of them.

I have a couple of new sites that are getting regular attention. The rest I visit about once a month and schedule content for at least a month. I use 3 different Amazon plugins, one is set to autopost twice a day and I schedule articles to those sites. The other two post to draft and I check them before scheduling the adverts and articles.

Apart from republishing articles from directories to help my sites along, I either write my own content or outsource using several companies. I never spin articles, don't believe you need to and to do it properly takes as long as it does to write a fresh article.

For traffic I use article marketing, bookmark every fresh article that I post, feed directories, some blog commenting. I also have web 2.0 sites to support most of my money sites.

My purpose is and was to create websites to make money from, but it was originally out of interest not need, now I want to retire early

I'm sure that I could have gone down quicker routes but I'm happy with what I'm doing and yes I enjoy working on my sites.

A good plan is to start with just one or 2 sites but learn about seo and researching keywords first then you will be less likely to have sites sitting there doing nothing like I have. Once I started to make some money I spent it on outsourcing, software and scripts that help to increase earnings and hopefully it will keep on snowballing.

I am operating 2 sites and an online business. Unfortunately to make money per site you have to drive traffic to per site . Therefore each site is a workload all of its own

one traffic effort for site A and another one for site B

I don't do autoblogs or anything BH btw

SEO on adsense sites etc to be able to get the 'hands free' income takes constant updating etc and you really have to know what you are doing

My personal advice would be to operate one site, figure out what the IM equation looks like for you (how you intend to monetize your life using the internet - WHAT are you going to sell and how are you going to promote it), make money off that one model and site first before building any more

But I have a round of a few hundred set to expire (the domains themselves) that I'm probably not going to renew so that number will change.

Obviously I don't manage each one individually but they all bring in small amounts of income that eventually lead up to a decent amount of profit.

Interesting question; I can't wait to see more replies. I have two sites I started before I found Warrior Forum, and I believe I'll let them die; they were a shot in the dark and pretty misguided. I have two more sites that I've started in the last two months, and I'm testing a bunch of stuff on hubpages to decide what I'm building next.

I have some agressive plans to add a lot more sites. My primary concern is that I am not a naturally organized person, and it boggles my mind when I try to figure out how to keep info, tasks, promotion, research, etc. for so many sites organized. I already have Excel spreadsheets coming out the wazoo and I've barely dipped my toes in the water.

  I think you have answered your own question as in “I’m waiting to see what results I get first”.
  
  This is by far your best option, if your first two sites do well then stick with running a small number of sites.
  
  5-6 sites is easy to manage, if you go down the micro site route and build 100+ sites then clearly you may do better BUT you will have a lot more to manage!
  
  I’d advise starting with 5-6 and see how you go managing those (plus of course how well sales go!)

..... I hold a full time job which i use as an excuse for not completing my projects

.....but my New Year resolution is to get this IM business match my salary income by this year end.....wish me luck !

I have a demanding full time job and so do many others on this forum. I manage by outsourcing and plan to be part time by the end of this year and early retirement from the day job within another 2 years. I want to be making more than my salary and have some fun travelling while I work the business.

I operate only one website but I have severeal blogs. It's only about 2 weeks ago that a bought a domain name but Im already finished with my site. My goal is to have a dozens of webistes with good clickbank products on so I can make some decent money with adsense and clickbank.

Currently 8 but 4 of them are in position waiting for launches.

Out of the remaining 4 1 is making a steady profit. 2 are still in the development stage and 1 does not turn a profit which I will sell off very soon.

I basically make a site and after 4 months if it is not profitable sell it and make a small profit or break even and repeat cycle until I'm left with profitable sites.

The sites built around launches are also sold off after the peak of traffic and sales and once again rinse and repeat cycle.

Right now, I'm down to about 130 sites. That's still WAY too many, so cutting down much more. Hopefully I will have it down to 20 or less over the next year, making it much easier to concentrate on the good ones.

I have about 10, 8 of which are very profitable, 1 of the other 2 is in a niche which was time sensitive, I made good money on it before the niche died though. I always do intensive research to make the most profitable sites. I don't like managing a bunch of little sites making .50 cents a day.

You can be very successful operating just one site. The key is to have something that people want, be it training or products you sell. You have to drive a lot of traffic to that site to make it profitable. The more sites you have, the more work you need to do to minitor them and drive traffic to them. It does not mean, however, that you should not have several sites. Some products sell better than others so you can diversify. Just be sure to put equal effort into each so you can have an idea of how each one is really doing.

This thread just goes to show the noobs that Internet Marketing isnt generally about making a gazillion dollars from only 1 site or 1 product launch.

Many, many, many, many, MANY.

Alright - not that many, but still a good many.

A bit less than 100 sites, but I'm not sure of the exact figure, for not all domains are in the same account or at the same registrar (and in fact I have more domains than I have live sites, anyway), and not all sites are added to Google Analytics, Webmaster Tools, and so on. They're aaalllllll oveerrrr the place.

I operate roughly 30 sites among which are quite few I am in the process of selling. Those where bought intending to be sold once they generate regular income.

I've got around 20 domains registered. Although not all in use, I do have some that I check on sometimes, but for the most part they bring in money even without me. I guess that is cool too.

Awesome topic - I'm more of a life hacker than an internet marketer, so I have one site. A site with a ton of content on high performance entrepreneurship. I market an E-book and some audio products right on the site. I am however thinking of creating a couple of separate sites on separate subjects.. like training your mind and self hypnotic inductions... hacking the mind. Good question, I'm seriously considering creating those sites.

I have 136 sites and I just purchased another 22 domains 2 days ago mainly they are products for Amazon and other hard products which I build amazon affilaite pages. i also have several of my own products in development and to manage them all I outsource some of the content and then oversee it prior to making the changes or uploading sites to ensure content and seo is correct.

No way I could do it all on my own

When your 4 sites get profitable, start outsourcing,
then you will eventually be able to handle dozens and
even hundreds of sites. I operate 1,000+ sites right
now... of course with dozens of staffs to help out.

But like I said, this is how anyone starts... with the
one, two, three, four and so sites, for starters,
