Why I think Article Marketing is the best source of traffic

Hey guys,

I'll try to brief as I possibly can. I believe article marketing is the best source of traffic because:

  • It's free
  • You can target exactly who you're talking to
  • If done properly it gives you a chance to earn residual income
I promised I'd be brief and this is why I feel Article Marketing is the best source of traffic.

I started Article Marketing clickbank products in mid November and I've generated over $1000 without any previous experience really.

I didn't really believe I could make any money right off the bat. Honestly, I was just experimenting. After that, the money just came.

I believe my earnings could be a lot more if I put out more work. I've yet to use Ezinearticles.

The key is to link build to those articles.

I wrote 70 articles on my main EZA account and have received over 1,000,000 article views.

Over 55,000 pre-sold traffic to my blog.

Got a TON of loyal readers and subscribers this way.

If you had gotten those articles ranked on your blog instead, you could have had over 1,000,000 visitors to YOUR blog instead of giving it to EZA, and settling for 55,000. But EZA thanks you, lol.

True, but it is far easier to get an EZA article ranked than if the same article were to be posted on a typical blog. Using EZA leverages the domain links, age and authority stature of the EZA domain. Ideally, of course, the blog post and the EZA article would both rank well--perhaps along with a Youtube video and a Squidoo lens.

However, your point is well taken. Article marketing is a balancing act to the extent that it potentially draws resources away from your own site. It is a piece of a marketing plan, but it isn't the whole plan.

I've had quite a bit of success with article marketing over the years, although many of my articles are not published on article directories but rather other sites and blogs in my main niche. When I first started, I would direct link to either a review page or the merchant's page and that can work well in some niches. However, I now direct all my article traffic (and classified ad traffic) to various squeeze pages and have built a nice, profitable list in my primary niche. So yes, I'm a big fan of article marketing although it's certainly not the only way I generate traffic.

do you put affiliate links in the articles themselves to achieve that, or write something catchy enough to make them click through to your site?

I started out direct linking straight to the sales page. For nearly 2 weeks I've been linking to a squeeze page...that's working a little better.

Article marketing is a great way to get traffic. The problem most people have is creating unique content. I know that I am a terrible writer and struggle with it constantly. I took a stab at trying to rewrite existing content and it turns out that I'm no good at that either.

Someone steered me towards Textbroker which seemed okay and then I came across pajamateam. (not an affiliate for either one) the cost for articles is about the same at each one, about $6, but Pajamateams seemed to be far superior quality as compared to Textbroker.

The only drawback with Pajamateam is that you have to order a minimum of 10 articles or posts. At least you can mix and match so they don't all have to be on the same topic.

Now that you've got your articles posted, what's next. Get backinks. Let the fun begin.....

Article marketing is a great source of traffic- when done properly. Sometimes all it takes is one very well written article to bring in a nice stream of traffic (though it usually takes about about dozen for me)

When I started out a couple years ago I didn't know what the heck I was doing and submitted an article here and there to Ezine every couple of days those article brought in my first couple of sales and spurred me on so I could grow those sales.

    HI Bill,

    Thanks for your post.

Can you share with us your exact article marketing steps to get $1000 per month.

Do we need to spin an article then submit it to different article directories, or just post article to our website one article per day or how?

What about backlink to our article directory page? Do we need to build backlink for search engine ranking?

With your experience, how long do you take to make $1000 per month using just article marketing.

    Please share with us...=)

It is definitely the best source of traffic because ARTICLE MARKETING is considered as "skeleton" in SEO. It is very important in SEO because it merely explains what your product is all about. It's advantages amongst others. Why people must buy or avail what you want to advertise with.

I use Goarticles along with other top tier directories. An advantage is that you get instant publication without the delay of the approval process of ezinearticles, a1articles and some others. That can speed the process of building backlinks to your article by a week or so. When speed is not an issue, though, it's hard to beat eza.

You could argue JV traffic, but they still have to be warmed up. At least with siphoning off SE traffic using article marketing, they have type the keyword phrase in already and are already in the frame of mind you want them to be.

So you're saying that the benefit of articles is that the visitors are coming from the search engines after searching for relevant keywords?

So basically what you're saying is not that articles are the best source of traffic, but SEO is.

Wouldn't you rather have your own site, customised the way you like, generating traffic rather than an article with ad's every where and just 1-2 links back to your site?

I'd say the best source of traffic is an email sent out by someone who has a fantastic relationship with their list, followed by SEO (A site you own ranking, not an article directory or web 2.0 page).

Article marketing is indeed a great way to get traffic, two comments though:
    - It's 2011, you should consider using youtube to get traffic. Just like you publish articles, you can publish video articles/presentation, what ever you wanna call it, it works.
    - I used to publish 100's of articles. Today I know it only takes one good article to get traffic. You need to do some SEO and help the SE find it

I mainly use article submission for SEO link building, but I also notice a reasonable direct traffic flow. I guess if you are just starting out, you can also put order links directly into articles and go without your own site, although you are passing on building your own customer base, and not all sites will accept articles with affiliate links.

I'm curious though since writing articles is very time consuming for some, do you use spintax and a service to get white hat variations of them for distribution, or is everything manually done?

I'm not picking on you specifically, Jackson, so please don't take this personally...

How many places you trade at (mortgage holder or landlord, utility companies, stores and restaurants, etc.) will let you pay your tab with article views or clicks?

Out of the thousands of supposedly targeted visitors in that three months converted into paying customers? How much is each of those visitors worth? What does that make your hourly rate?

Like I said, Jackson, this isn't personal, so I really don't expect you to answer here. You just made the post that led to my point...

I'm sure we can all agree on the major benefits of article marketing.

However, if you're looking to scale up your business, solo article marketing is not really going to cut it. You'll work yourself to the bone, and while there's residual traffic from your articles, there's no guarantee that it'll keep flowing in.

Unless you either outsource some of your article writing and/or add on paid advertising, you're going to reach a point of diminishing returns where any extra work put in is only going to bring you very little.

Don't get me wrong, article writing is a great way to start out. But open your mind to bigger and better opportunities and methods out there, this is not the be-all and end-all to making money online.

Article Marketing is like the worst source of traffic for Adsense(they already click on the ads before they visit your site).

Article Marketing is good for: Getting more of your properties listed on page one; using keyword authority(which depends on your niches keywords and what categories the article directory has plus the article directory title & url); and proof that at least one Ezine ARticle editor has looked over your site and made sure it's not total spam.
