Why Free WSO Instead Of Listing In Main Forum?

I was thinking of offering a free WSO to build my list and give some great info that people can use. My only real justification for listing it as a WSO - instead of the main forum - is that people generally regard the Warrior Special Offers as more valuable than a normal forum thread, since it costs $40 for each listing.

What other reasons are there? I mean, to pay the $40 and list the free offer, instead of doing it for free in the normal forum? Are there any restrictions the normal forum has that don't apply for WSOs? I'm fairly certain you can still link to an opt-in form in a normal free thread.

Well, such a thread will be quickly deleted if you post it here. So most people would consider that a negative.

If you're forcing people to opt in, you don't have any options other than a WSO or one of the other paid forums. You could post such a thread in the War Room or in the Make Money Online section, but you can't require an opt-in in either place. I know in the War Room it's OK to ask for an opt-in as long as you make it clear it's optional.

Offers of that type aren't appropriate in the main forum.

If you can do it, every spammer in the universe could do the same.

      JD,
      So it's an ethics issue.
      Nope. Purely practical.

Well, I think it's more of a practical thing -- if you get to do it, then everyone gets to do it, and pretty soon the whole first page is filled with list-building promotions in what is supposed to be a discussion section.

EDIT: Paul, stop typing faster than me.

No, it's not an ethical issue. It's a rules issue, the WSO section is specifically designated for offers, whether they're free or not, and the main forum is meant for discussion and interaction - not selling or giving away free reports!

    JD,

No, you can't. Ken had that right, and Steve nailed the reason.

As soon as that was allowed, the number of people trying to "build their list" based on the membership here would go through the roof. And, even if that were okay, you'd find that the majority of the folks posting those things would be scammers and spammers. They'd be trading lists, pounding the hell out of addresses, and generally abusing the members in ways I won't get into in public.

Think it through. You'll see why it's not allowed.

There is a time and a place for everything

As far as optin/squeeze page Wsos (collecting the optin) the place is the Warrior Special Offer section.

Spend the $40 to place your offer in the WSO Section.

If you did this, this time last year, you would have just had to spend $20.

Of course, there is always the option for providing such amazing value in your posts which people naturally look to your signature line to learn more about you....

Consider posting your offer in the War Room, also.
