Ezinearticles Headache - Does Anyone Have Any Article Tylenol?

I had an (ezinearticles) article that was on the 2nd page of Google for a broad search, and number 1 on the first page for a phrase search for the past 2 months or so.

For reasons I won't bore you with, I had to do a few quick edits on the article. Because of an unusually slow moving ezinearticles approval team, it took almost week for my article to be re-published.

What happened was that it was completely removed from the ratings because of being a dead link for a week. Now it's over a week later, and the article is still nowhere to be found.

My question is: If I invest some time to re-promote this article (using proven methods), will my article re-appear in the ratings?

I'm asking on this forum, because it'd be nice to know so I don't waste hours on this if it's a futile attempt.

    I would say that if you got a few backlinks to it, it should eventually be ranked on Google again in the future I would assume.

    Did you edit the title? I hope you didn't!

    If all you did was minor changes to the body of the article I think it has a good chance of re-appearing. Submit your EA RSS feed and get some fresh backlinks (nothing spammy though).

    I guess the lesson here is don't edit your articles after they are approved.

      I can't for the life of me understand why people edit perfectly good
      articles that are performing well for them, especially when they know that
      if they are editing directory submitted articles they WILL get taken down.

      If you're editing articles on your own blog, that's one thing, but directory
      submissions...NEVER edit them UNLESS they are NOT performing well or they
      have some SERIOUS problems with them that not corrected will lose you tons
      of money.

        Exactly. And I'd stay away from editing well-ranked blog posts too. About 2 years ago I had a blog post bringing in $1K a month. I got greedy and thought I could do better with some editing. Big G didn't like it at all and I lost the $$ almost overnight. Never got it back either

      Yep, exactly. One of my customers had this same thing happen. My recommendation would be to put the same article on Goarticles and then run a backlink campaign on it. You have a really good chance of getting really good rankings this way.

        Thanks Angela, that's what I was planning on doing and then some. And thank you to all of you who have responded, it gave me some insight.

        BTW just so everyone knows, since I'm getting ragged on for it, lol, the reason I took down the article is that I had put some not very good keywords in there, and my summary was not very strong at all.
        I was getting virtually NO traffic from my google ratings and the article had been frozen in its position for almost 2 months.

        But hey, this still may have been a mistake. Tell you what - I'm going to use every Article Promotion technique I know of to get it to perform again, and once I'm done and Google has stabilized a bit, I will post my results - what I did and how it affected the return (or non-return) of my article into Google's ratings.

    Agreed...

    Tweaking until perfection is a suggestion when it comes to submitting articles...a hard lesson to learn.

    What I suggest you do is Social Bookmark your article using Onlywire and Social Marker to your related category. That should Help you get indexed in Google.

    I did actually edit one of my articles on ArticleDashboard (rank 15+) days ago...
    because I put all wrong keywords into it.

    Now that I feel bad after reading this thread... is that "serious" enough to deserve a tweak?

      Ray, if you put all the wrong keywords in it, then you're probably not getting
      the right targeted traffic anyway, so in that case, editing is probably not a
      bad idea.

      But before you do it, check your traffic stats and conversions. If the stats
      show that the keywords don't matter much, if at all, then don't bother.

      Never mess with success when it comes to articles. Salescopy, sure, you
      can tweak it and if the tweak doesn't work, you can always change it
      back. Your sales page still will be listed. But with articles on directories,
      forget it, you're cutting your own throat.

    To answer the OP, I would say that you're probably done with that article. Of course, you could work a little and it could come back at #1, but from what I have done in the past with several articles, once you edit them and they disappear, they will never return to that high of a ranking. It'll show back up, but probably won't make it higher than page 10 or so.

    IN Yahoo/MSN, on the other hand...it will probably come back and stay.

    Are you guys saying that if you have a really bad resource box and want to change it, you can't? Because I have some articles that are on SEO rank but I really, really, really want to edit them for a better CTR. I guess they are permanent forever...
