PDF Resizer Help Please

Hi everyone and a good weekend.

I am working on resizing a pdf ebook. What I mean is the pages I need to resize the pages from 8.5 x 11 to 7 x 10 so i can upload it to createspace.

I really, really need to get this done because I have sold the this as a pdf ebook but many people in my target market don't even know what an ebook is and want a hard copy so I am trying to get this onto createspace (an amazon print on demand extension)...

I have downloaded three different pdf resizers and none of them worked. If anyone knows how to do this in Adobe without a software please, please help.

Thanks so much and I have learned so much from everyone here.

If this is your ebook, shouldn't you have the source file? Just rebuild the pdf using Acrobat or OpenOffice in the dimensions you need, from the original source.

If it is your ebook and you do not have the source for whatever reason, do a Google search for PDF to Word, PDF to HTML etc... there are several software that will take the contents of a PDF and convert it to other formats. Then just compile a new PDF.

You may also want to look at Acrobat's features, help to see if there isn't a way to reprint the PDF into a new size.

These are ideas off of the top of my head.

  • Install a PDF printer driver, the one I use is PDF Creator.

That works just like a normal printer, but instead of sending it to a physical device, it sends it to a new PDF file.

Print your PDF to the PDF printer driver. Make sure you change the page size to the new size, and 'Shrink To Fit'. Then you should get the file saved as a PDF in the smaller size.

The downside of this is that the two page sizes you've listed don't have the same length to width ratio, so you are likely to end up with some strange spacing somewhere. You're also likely to lose text quality from the double PDF resizing, but how bad that is will depend on the original source document (and from when I've published books with CreateSpace, they've wanted good quality text to start with).

If the worst comes to the worst, pay someone to OCR the book in and correct and problems with the text. You should be able to get this done for a few dollars on one of the outsourcing sites, and that would give you back a word processed document to work with.
