Does anyone use 1 Shopping Cart?

I've had a million people suggest that I need to expand on the Twitter ebook and set up an affiliate program for it.

Is 1 Shopping Cart any good for this? I need something that is not super complex to use.

Yes, 1SC will work for that if you don't want to use CB or PDC. I really like 1SC...I don't use it for affiliate marketing, but otherwise, it's a great product.

I'm hearing too much negative stuff about Clickbank these days, from people I really respect, to want to use it. How is Pay Dot Com compared to 1 Shopping Cart? Reliability and ease of use is very important to me.

I use 1ShoppingCart right now for managing an affiliate program. I was already using it to process orders, so it was a natural step to use it for affiliates as well.

It has worked great for quite some time, but then I ran into a problem because they cannot process recurring charges through Paypal hence they can't track those commissions for my affiliates. It doesn't seem like you would have this problems since your ebook is probably a one-time charge.

There is a bit of a learning curve to using their system. It's not always the most intuitive, but it works well. There customer support is always very helpful.

      Hope that helps a bit.

When I used 1SC a few years ago I had NOTHING but problems with them! The affiliate portion didn't work, the payment notifier didn't work so I left. I switched to DLGuard for all of my "E" downloads. There is a FREE script over at JROX.com that should be more than sufficient for what you need!

Interesting they can't do recurring payments - good to know - but as long as they are reliable it sounds as if they would fill my needs for right now.

What's the best way to do recurring payments, if I want an affiliate program for that too?

Well, they CAN do recurring payments through your credit card processor (such as Authorize.net). It's just Paypal that they can't create a recurring subscription through.

Unless all three of these are true you won't have any problems:

      1. You want to offer Paypal as a payment option on a recurring charge
      2. You have an affiliate program through 1SC
      3. You want to pay affiliates recurring commissions for recurring charges through Paypal

I do have all three of these so I am going to switch to a different solution. After research I have decided to go with Post Affiliate Pro. I haven't set it up yet so I don't have anything more to offer on how well it works.

I have 1ShoppingCart for all of my one time product sales and my membership software handles affiliate program for recurring payments - would be nice to have them all under one umbrella, but it hasn't been too much of a distraction.

        Hi Dana

Just to bamboozle you further, I'll throw in my opinion, for what it's worth.

I used 1SC for a few years but eventually gave up and wrote my own system.

And the reason was because I felt their ordering process was too slow and cumbersome, especially if the customer wants to pay by PayPal.

        Cheers,

I did the same thing. Not in particular because of 1SC but because I needed custom situations met and just ended up slowly building out my own system for transactions handling, affiliate management, product delivery, etc.

Though I have used 1SC in the past and they always worked well for me.

        Jeff,

So does that mean that your affiliates have to sign up for two different programs? Is there any confusion with that?

I want to do everything through PayPal and that includes membership sites. I currently have DLGuard which does not do affiliates and does not do OTOs. Which would you recommend for all these needs?

I read, somewhere else on here, that 1ShoppingCart was bad a few years ago but has improved. I think I will go with that for right now and then figure out what to do when I have a need for recurring subscription payments.

    Dana,

Have you considered Rapid Action Profits?

    Rapid Action Profits

I have considered Rapid Action Profits - I don't know if they are as versatile as 1 Shopping Cart though...are they?

1ShoppingCart has its problems - especially the recurring payments through Paypal situation(as many have written already). The people at 1SC have been talking about putting together an API for sometime, which would allow for outside programmers to do some customization to fit the specific needs of various users. As far as I know, the API is still not out...But when it does come out, it should allow for some major improvements to the system(assuming that the API is well organized and clear).

The API is in private beta right now, so it shouldn't be too much longer before the public release.

Yes 1sc does have its problems (The affiliate module is a tad buggy), but on the whole I really like it. Makes my online job a whole lot easier

I like RAP and it is easy to use. You can buy a Addon for recurring payments.

As Janet said LFM is one option, and you will find that MMS is another. Hint MMS is a wso for thanksgiving at the moment.

RAP is totally different to 1SC from what I have seen. But you can set up RAP for instant payment to PayPal, and it comes with everything you need to get going.
