J.V partners working together to build your mailing list faster, or being a product creator and having 100's of affiliates promoting your products.

The power is in numbers. Everything is a numbers game online. The more traffic you get the more money you will make!

And like you said take action! You cannot make no money, if you do not do anything!

Yes, that is pretty much the secret to internet marketing. Most people will just keep reading and reading different ways and methods, but won't take any actions. Then they will get overwhelmed with information and won't know how or where to start.

You are so right. Sadly, I like so many others have fallen prey to the analysis syndrome. My affliction has led me into a state of what seems like perpetual learning.

I can't seem to break free of it - I put out more content during the last couple months of 2009 than all of 2010. Where did that year go?

I have more knowledge, abilities and software than Carter has pills. I have all day to get something accomplished. I probably have enough education to cash in...But I want to know more.

I keep checking out all of these bogus 3- click- you're- rich- type products that rake in massive sales. It is so predatory and dream crushing to the uninitiated. I wonder, do I have to become the hunter instead of the hunted? Does building a list ultimately mean that I must become ruthless in my pursuit of money?

I still prefer to sleep. Is their any way not to get jaded and not start being a faceless and heartless schemer in this game?

I want money. If I wanted to scam it, I know ways that doesn't hurt the little guy.

Whew, Got that off my chest.
I'll try to take your advice.

Thing is, you could break it down to taking the right action AND making time for continuing education.

DECIDE not to be a faceless and heartless schemer and you WON"T be. It's a decision...and if you continue to scheme, it will come back to bite you one day.

        Perfectly natural thing to happen.
Unfortunately, it only gets worse ... seriously.
It's a stress-reduction mechanism in your brain ... because you're now very good at learning new stuff, whenever you're stressed (like: still not making any money online), your brain simply looks for the best way to reduce that stress.

And doesn't the notion of "swamping your server with hordes of rabid buyers whilst doing f*** all" just make you all warm and fuzzy inside?

So, your brain commands you to buy that latest course which deep down you already know you're not going to implement.

So, although I agree with the OP's statement that the only thing that's going to make you money is to take action, there's one caveat: you have to take the RIGHT type of action.

And if you're stuck in that cycle from hell "buy course, get stressed, buy another course, get even more stressed because you're still not making money, ...", then the right type of action is NOT to produce more content!

The only RIGHT type of action is then to get yourself to the next stage of readiness.

At least that's what huge international scientific studies suggest that looked at what's the difference between those who successfully change and those who don't.

So, do take action, massive action if you like, but do NOT just keep continuing what you've been doing so far.

        It'll only make matters worse.

In fewer words: To stop procrastinating you must stop procrastinating.

I challenge everyone to seek out your own procrastination-killer. Be it a nagging wife, a forever expanding credit card debt or stories about people who made their first million when they were 21.

Find the internal and external motivators that will get you from one level to another. Be the subject in your own game. Create a drama, an environment, where you are the main character and the main character is the hero. Then... let the games begin.

Once you've done that, everything follows.

I fully agree except you need to take the RIGHT action. You can take action all day long and if it's not what needs to be done, you are spinning your wheels and not getting anywhere.

I still get lost in the learning mode almost on a weekly basis. It is really hard not to when you are new again. I did some IM about 3 years ago, got frustrated at the results and gave it up for just selling hard goods online, then a divorce. Now I am back again but still get lost in the analysis paralysis. This was a great thread guys. Just what I needed to hear.

The problem is that most people don't wanna hear that they have to work every day and build their online business, just like you'd have to if you had an off line business.

If you ask yourself why there are so many products out there that promise to help you 'get rich quick' with a few simple pushes of a button the answer you'd probably come up with is that it's because there's a big demand for these types of products.

The reason there's a big demand for these types of products is that a lot of people are lazy and want to believe that they can get rich pretty easily without much work.

The silver lining to this particular cloud is that if you actually realize this, and commit to taking action and repeating it on a consistent basis then pretty soon you'll stand out in your niche or market because most people are just too lazy to do this.

Taking considered action on a consistent basis is the only way to achieve success.

Paul hit the nail on the head with this remark!

My humble opinion is that there USED to be a time (early 90's ?) that it was easy to "make it big" in IM. It's 2011 and there is so much competition out there that IM is a business like any other. It has advantages, like working from home in your own hours etc. but it's still a business like any other.
You have to work hard AND smart to see considerable results.

      My 2 cents...

Both of you guys are spot on!! I have been working so much on the past two weeks it's crazy. I have worked so many hours in the past few days for a launch that I woke up this morning after a couple hours of sleep and stared puking!!

Sexy? Heck NO! And I am probably coming down with something I think but the point is you have to work your tail off. That's why I think it is so important to pick something that you are passionate about and go lose yourself in.

With that said, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I work from my home office, can play with my two kids and wife everyday and live the life that I want on my rules.

But it all starts with that first foot forward and taking massive actions.

So true... but I'm not sure if it that they are lazy (well, sure lots are) but that most people don't know how to "take action" unless there is a boss there spelling out what you have to do and they know that if they don't do it the will lose their job or get into trouble with the boss.

I was expecting to see "Hard work", so my guess was close.

As for taking action, there are some tools that might help you. For me, it is planning and performance tracking. If I plan to get 50 links in a week but get only 10, I get embarrassed and take action quickly.

    Sorry, have to disagree.

There's a famous saying in engineering that goes something like this...

“It's far better to fix a 10 minute mistake in the plans than to fix a $250,000 mistake in the production.”

Half the reason why people waste time and money is because they're told to "just take action." The problem is, if that action wastes their time and money and grinds them to a halt, does that still equal success?

Sure, if they learn from it and have the time and money to do it all again, a different way.

But the REAL secret, as I'm sure most would agree, is to take massive action with a proven plan that will pay off.

      Nick

I don't think you're disagreeing - I think you're just throwing an extra level of clarity.

There are several clearly defined business models in IM that you can take as your base line and start working from. Find someone whose approach you like who you know is having success and follow them closely. Model their approach and get it working for you (by working, I mean generating consistent revenues).

Do THAT on a consistent basis and you combine taking action, with taking smart action by modelling something that you KNOW works.
