Of course people are making money on ebay, however it is a tough market to get into. Look at all the powersellers on ebay, they're the ones who are driving prices down and sell things for dirt cheap, so you must do your research to find items that you can buy and actually make a profit. Don't forget ebay double dips with fees, the front end from ebay and the back end from paypal.

Another alternative is amazon because you can be an affiliate but you only make about 4%, done right, the money is great. You can even select specific items to sell so you never have to own the product. Think outside the box!

There is a guy by the name of Jim Cockrum, and many of his associates who seem to do very well on eBay. If you are ready for the challenge, go for it. Just be prepared for the learning curve. Personally, I prefer Amazon. If you are just getting started, check into it as well.

ebay is no easy matter. If you're looking to get into it, I suggest that you first search for a reliable drop shipping company to work with that is willing to sell you items cheaper than retail price

I do get some cash from Ebay every month and I do like that they're very reliable with their payment schedule.

Their program definitely took a dive since they started going with the "Quality Click" model rather than commissions, but even though it's a new beast it's still worthwhile if you learn how to manage it.

    TIPS:

    1. If you suddenly drive more traffic to Ebay your rate per click will plummet

    2. This program does not play nicely with autoblogging, it works better with custom content.

    3. You need to build links steadily over time and build your monthly pay out gradually. That way Ebay won't get the heeby jeebies and slash your payment rate.

    4. Strong visuals kick ass with promotions. Find a really attention grabbing eye candy pic of a product in your niche and attach your affiliate link to it. It's a good way of getting "quality clicks" from people who'll go off to Ebay in interested mode.

    5. You get paid better for less popular niches. They don't really need extra traffic for things like Xbox 360s so they don't pay well for it. If you send them people to quiet areas, you'll do better

I used to, around 7 or so years ago. Ebay then decided to shaft sellers left right and center with fees here, there and everywhere. Then paypal started the same... then the whole thing became over saturated with people selling and it started to cost too much and eat into my profit margin.

That's when I found internet marketing actually.. that's another kettle of fish altogether!

    Hello!

I am a Powerseller and have been selling on Ebay for years. I will second what has been said, Ebay over the years has become harder on small time sellers with fees, penalties, listing policy, etc. Although I am trying to "break" into Internet Marketing, I will always keep ebay on the side (I am not putting all my eggs in one basket).

I've made some money on Ebay with some auctions but have never tried to use it as a steady income stream. Maybe I'll revisit it.

Yes of course people make money from ebay, they key to making a steady income in constantly buy low and sell high... Here are some ways to do that.

    1. Find items on slickdeals.net that are below market price for ebay or amazon.com.
    2. Find stuff on craigslist that is small and easy to ship.
    3. Go to estate sales, storage unit sales, garage sales and flip that stuff on ebay.

You can make a steady stream of income with ebay just takes a lot of work.

Yup. I have a couple of ebay businesses, and I make some money from SEO'd websites too. All in all I would say making money on eBay is actually easier - at least when starting out. Just try starting with a small selection of stock. Micro testing - thats the way to go.

YES! I sold my Ninja Turtles poster last year and made an $8 profit. It's probably a little hard to scale that though.

It is definitely possible to make money on eBay I tried my hand at it and failed, but I worked part time for a BIG manufacturing company in an outlet that sold stock that their clients had not accepted or returned. 90% of our customers were Ebayers and they would drop thousands weekly just on the days I was there.

Naturally I got excited and bought a whole lot of stuff they were buying but couldn't buy in bulk like they did so I didn't get the same discount and I ended up making next to no profit from it. When I spoke to some of the customers they told me what they thought I had done wrong and it basically came down to not testing the market before I bought my stock and also trying to compete with people who could sell lower than I could.

The biggest thing I have learnt with eBay is that if you take time with your description, make it comprehensive, you tend to get a lot more interest. I have been clearing out my house and also some stuff from both my parents house and my in-laws and have been able to sell identical items that other eBayers have not because I took my time with the description, made sure I had good quality photos and provided good communication with potential buyers.

I guess it is like a lot of warriors say - treat it like a business and not an ATM and you will see the rewards.

Reduce your listing fees by hosting your own pictures and linking to them from your listing - eBay allows a certain number of pics in your basic listing fee and charges you more to use extra images. I use a simple html table and add multiple img's showing more detail of the product.

A good listing takes time to create. Download Turbo Lister (from eBay) to save time - re-use old listings, returns policy etc.

Schedule listings to end at an appropriate time - my favourite is just after 8pm
